I was wondering if the 1st generation Bentley manual
would be useful for a 2007 just a cooper.

For things like oil pan gasket at the least and other things
as they arise.

I think it is starting to get to the point where I will be needing something.

I've bought the TIS CD thing off ebay for a BMW before it never worked.
I've bought the CD from a member on this site it never worked either.

So now I'm looking for something else or something to make do.

Really the best option is to log on to minitechinfo.com and subscribe for the day $30 for 24 hours and print all of the information you are looking for. That site gives you access to the TIS and other service bulletins. It is the only official up to the minute BMW/MINI information available (that's not out of date like the eBay TIS, which I do have, but that 9/07 version is early on in the R56 production).

Not cool. I pay the $30.

I can log in, select the model, and get to the menu.
When I go to look at the manuals, I get a pop up
about trying to enable the smart printing, then an error,
then a white screen.

The bavarian technics tool does not have an option for the airbag
reset. On their site, it specifically said they reset the airbag
on the R56. They are of course not open on weekends.

I'm now past $600 and no closer than I was when I started.

 

Great. If you have a new HP computer, less than a year old, they have a bug in the internet explorer smart printing blah blah that is at least a reformat fix.
With no guarentees.

The minitech site only uses internet explorer.

I use mozilla, so therefore, I've not encountered this bug.

Failed to connect to a DDS server.

What does that mean?

 

Condor, this is what works for me to get to the site in FF. I use the FF addon IE Tab Plus and open a new tab. Then, right click the tab and select switch rendering engine. This >must< be done on a blank tab. Doing so will cause a new tab to come up using the IE engine. I'll then copy in the link for success. Hope this helps.

I wish Bentley would come out with the book.

It makes so sense there are like 3x 2nd gens as 1st gens.
