wow that is pricey for that midlands... im going to opt for the transmission conversion when it comes time (i have a seperate bank account for it). for parts its under 2,000 and for labor its 1600. i also think that in the long run itll outlast the midlands. far outlast. hope everything works out for you champ!
another thing, a rebuilt, "re enforced" midlands doesnt mean a reliable midlands. More information on the experiance of a person who went through a stock midlands then the re enforced midlands. i think to save money and time just do the getrag swap. theres a few people here that have done that. but check out this write up and the experiance this dude had with his r50.

Mine came out to something like 1350. 06 6-spd with 2k miles was 1000 bucks and everything else was 250 cause I pulled it out of a friends car...
Where did you get it done ? or are you did you DIY ? Hows cruise control working for you ? congrats by the way, your living my dream!
