It's the Mini Diesel.
How's your MPG so far? And how does the acceleration compare to your R53? (Was your r53 an "S" or "justacooper"?)
Btw, very nice Mini. Wish our plates here in the US were more like Europe's, they look a lot better.

compared to Cooper, the Diesel is more agile... but Cooper S is another planet!!
but in Italy gasoline costs a lot... is expensive, and Cooper D runs about 17 km/l , more or less 40 miles/gallon!!
...and is faster than a Cooper!!

Had an 81' VW Diesel Golf....I got 48/52 MPG and with snow tires it went through the snow like a half track
And has low maintenance too....But not coming to America any time soon....
In that agreeement, the U.S is to export as much diesel fuel to the UK as possible, and in return they export as much gasoline as possible since we have not enough gasoline refineries. Problem with increasing the amount of diesel cars here is that would eventually raise the cost of diesel fuel at the pump for commercial transportation and shipping off setting any initial benefits. It would also decrease our ability to keep up our end of the bargan with the UK.....and gas prices would go up.
It's an ecosystem. A change at one end of the pond effects the other side as well........
If this is true, why does the US Govt provide federal tax credits on some diesel models? http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/taxLeanburn.shtml

In a nut shell, and after you sift down through tarrifs and import taxes ect., it boils down to this. The U.S has an agreement with the UK regarding gas and diesel fuel for many years now.

Didn't the old Jetta diesels get like 50's? Just seems to me that a small car like a mini should be getting way more than 40mpg with a diesel.
Hell, I can get 24 mpg on the highway with an 8000lb H2 with diesel.... damn thing has the aerodynamics of a brick.
Nonetheless, still a beautiful car... Congrats.

EDIT: Hey, why is your steering wheel on the left side? Doesn't Italy follow the same direction of travel that Europe has? I thought everyone drove in the opposite direction.
Only the British, their former modern colonies, and Japan drive on the "wrong" side. The rest of Europe is normal. That makes for some fun when coming off the ferry from England at Calle - kind of a slot car track switch thing going on there.
Cheers,
Greg
P.S. - Love you "rebuild" thread!
