Gettin me an S!

So I had a 2005 Mini Cooper (non S). Unfortunately about 8 months into ownership, I totalled it. The accident was not my fault. I ended up making a pretty penny on the deal, Insurance paid more than I paid for the car! That's a first. Anyway, I went to the dealer and told them what happened and that I wanted an S this time around and that I would wait as long as I needed to find an 05 or newer for no more than 11 grand. Well they called me last week, Just took an 05 Chili Red Mini Cooper S with 75000 miles and with sunroof and such as a trade. Of course they wanted 11 even for it. I looked at it and of course it's awesome. That seems like a really good deal to me but I don't want to get too excited and buy a car that fast, soooo.. what do you guys think? Good tires, oil change, they replaced the motor mount yesterday, It drives great, new brakes. Anything that I should make sure and have them check with the supercharger? I did some searching, nothing really jumped out at me. Just the usual stuff.

Sounds like a pretty good deal for a newer model R53.

Do you know what additional options/packages are installed on the car? (comfort, sport package, etc.) It has a sunroof so at you can assume that it's at least decently loaded from the original owner. Manual or Automatic?

Either way, Congrats

Ya thanks for the reply. It's a 6 speed and it has the covenience package and I believe the sport package. I'm a little bummed cause the seats are two tone cloth or whatever. Not leatherette. But I'll survive. Maybe some seat covers. I'll try to take some pics tomorrow and post them. I'm pretty psyched about it.

That's a good deal. The best deal I could find in my area was the 05 R53 I got for $12,5. Mine has leather and had about 6,000 less miles when I got it. Most good ones seem to be going around $14k in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

I just bought a 2006 MCS with sport and cold weather packages, leather and sunroofs for $15,6. 36,000 miles on it. $11k sounds good to me if the providence of the car can be shown with Carfax etc. Maintenance records and warranty information would be good to know as well.

The lower control arm bushings in the front are probably getting worn/deformed if they haven't been replaced already. Also, look for signs of coolant leaking at the seam where the upper and lower halves of the plastic radiator tank are joined (the tank is mounted on the firewall right behind the spark plug coil pack.) Also, check for coolant leakage near the thermostat housing - that's a fairly common problem as well. The leaking motor mount is almost a given, but at least they've already addressed that.

Alright, just got back from the dealer. It is a one owner, carfax showed all maintenance done, it has a premium package. Thanks for the input, everything looks good that you guys mentioned. Oh and they are going to be replacing the little MINI sticker on the center cap and a proper detail. So, here it is.......

Congrats You can kiss all your spare change goodbye for the next x years - x = the number of years you own your mini. As you can see by my sig, I haven't had any spare change for years.

Gotta love the MCS,
Kevin

I paid $9000 plus tax for my 04 MCS which has about 90K. I'v had zero issues. Feels and runs like a new MCS.
