clear coating
Hey, related to this post I've been re-working some R90's. The barrel part of the wheel was clear coated, and I stripped that and repainted.
I put a primer down and then black, then clear coat. The first coat of clear went on beautifully. I looked sooooo smooooth and shiny.
Being the perfectionist I am I wanted two coats of clear for max protection. I did not sand between the clear coats, as it doesn't really say on the type of paint I got to sand, it just says to wait 24 hours before applying a second coat. I let it sit for a day came back to put the second coat on, and now it's textured. Not the smooth glossy finish I had before. It's a little rough and matt looking. Not at all what I wanted. Should I have stopped at one coat and been happy? Or should I have maybe sanded a little between coats?

I've done a little more research and what I've go is Clear Coat Orange Peel. The clear coat gets textured like an orange peel kinda feel. It's fixable by wet sanding and polishing. I'm going to put another layer on before I wet sand, cause my concern is I'll sand through my two thin coats.
How's the Rustoleum paint holding up? I used the same stuff.

Just make sure when you wet sand that you use super high grit sandpaper. Anything over 1000 grit should work, the higher the number the better.
And make sure you keep it wet. You might even want to grab a spray bottle to keep it wet between sanding.
It should come out just fine. Then, you can wax it just like your car and it should give it a nice polish. Good luck!
