Mini stalled in flooded wash
Mini stalled in flooded wash
Hey guys, I'm actually writing this from the airport where I just stalled my beloved r53 trying to get into the parking lot. I'm not sure how many inches of water it was but I thought I can make it safely through, seeing other low cars going through it with no issues. About half way through, it stalled on me and I had to get a push out. I guess what my concern is, will it start back up on Monday when I return from my trip?? I noticed the electrical system still works because everything inside on the dash still lights up, but it won't crank over when I turn my key. Will this go away after it dries??? Someone help me out. Man I really hope I didn't ruin it.
That sounds to me like it lost the connection to the battery if it won't crank over.
At least that is what I hope it is. Possibly a ground fault or a short caused by the water.
Give it some time to dry out and then try to crank it over. If you hear anything strange while it is cranking over, STOP. You might need to do some major things to it if you sucked water up into the intake and don't want to seize your engine. But, it doesn't sound like it to me. Sounds more like an electrical short, so keep your fingers crossed.

Thanks for the info guys! So I'm still stuck at the airport and my mini outside had me going crazy. So i went to back to the parking lot to see if 3 hours was enough dry time. The dash lights still come on but now I actually get a Lil crank out of it. Basically the same as when you have a dead battery, it cranks one then the lights dim. Could water still be doing this? Or can the starter be done for?
