Auto Door Window

Howdy.

You know how the door windows drop about 6mm when you open a door, and then roll up when the door is closed...well, the left door window on my daughter's '04 MINI stopped functioning recently. Nor can you activate the window with the switch. It was sporadic at first, now it's constant.

Any clues anyone? Is it the switch, the motor, gremlins...what?

Thanks.

Although your post shouldve been its own thread, you might want to use the OBDII port for diagnosis. It could be one of the computer modules, probably the one for body control. I think that includes the windows but Im not positive.

++++ near the hold down screw (3 o'clock driver and 9 o'clock passenger side). Next you need to consider R&R which may mean a new window regulator or just a good cleaning of the plug contacts. Look very closely for ANY corrosion at wiring/pin/plug connection points.

the WHACK fix may help for a time but this often is a forewarning that the motor is on its way out.

There is a DIY kicking around to replace it youself or as I recall when I had one done on my 02 it was around $200 at the dealer...that was a few years ago.

I don't recall any threads saying this turned out to be a switch problem
