Dunlop DSST weather cracks dry rot
Dunlop DSST weather cracks dry rot
Greetings all
Bringing into dealer to talk about weather cracking in outside tread grooves on all four tires. Not on the sidewall or in the inner tread grooves.
Bought MCS August 09, 23k on tires 2008 tire manufacturer date.
May be wear issue.
Any thoughts?
Plus back tires have scalloping on inner surface. Their was a TSB issued for the series 5 BMW for this problem same tire sport 01 DSST. Recommended tire replacement for under 20k

Ok, dealer agrees that the tires are showing signs of dry rot, but..
They will not honor the warranty on the tires, because they did not install them at the dealership.
In a nutshell, if the tires were installed at the factory on a new car, the dealer is claiming they are not responsible for the warranty! Because they did not install the tires as a dealer option.
Still working the issue.

There is a good chance you are not able to get them replaced under warranty. Regardless, they will need to be replaced with dry rot and 23K miles. If you want to stick to RFT, there are many sets for sale on NAM marketplace for reasonable prices. I would recommend going to non run flats. When you are ready to buy, take a look a tirerack.com and call Alex at x294.
FYI for future reference if U buy a new MINI or BMW and live in a state with Discount tire they will sell full road and wear hazard warranties for your new car's tires, as long as U do it within 300 miles or so. less than $100 for all four, and well worth it, because I had to replace 2 Dunflops on my 05 S due to this same issue. Tread actually separated.
And back then it was about $350/tire, for 16" oem
Amazing tho my 09 has Conti pc R/Fs and they've held up fine at 14K with some hard driving and two relaxed track days, so much better across the board (and cheaper to replace) than the Dunflops. Still when I wear them out in about another 5-6K I'll put conventionals back on.

Sell my Dunlop SP SportV1 tires-205/45 R17
I'm thinking of replacing my Dunlop SP SportV1 tires 205/45-17 RWS tires
as my wife doesn't like the rough ride but I enjoy the great handling they offer.
These are 2009 tires with 10K miles and I'm replacing them with an all season tire. There is no dry rot or cracking and they have been rotated every 5K miles.
Would you be interesed in them for $500+freight from SE Indiana?
