Fall Fun Run to Foglight Foodhouse

Last year in September I did a MINI run that pleased everybody who attended. I"d like to do it again on the 18th of September.

September 19th 2009 MINI Run

The above link is the itinerary for the drive I did last year. We met up at in the parking lot Of Joe's Southwest Grill on Thompson Lane in Murfreesboro.

To make things a bit easier for our friends up in the Nashville area, I'm open to suggestions for a meeting place that will be convenient for you all.

Departure time will depend on where we decide to meet up at, but should be around 9:30 and leave at 10:00.

This will pretty much an all day drive. If you all are interested I'll reserve a picnic shelter at Fall Creek Falls for lunch like I did last year. We'll probably cut out any of the hiking like we did last year, unless any of you all would prefer to do it. If you never been to the Falls there are some really nice sights to see there.

The roads we take from Fall Creek Falls to Rock Island State Park mostly back roads that are less traveled but are full of twists and turn over hills and dales (What ever dales are??) While we're in the Rock Island area we can take a short break to stretch our legs and take a bathroom break if needed. Hopefully by then it will be close to 5 PM when the Foglight Foodhouse opens up.

Let me know what you think of the route I got planned and what meeting place would best for you all.

I'm in, may be just me riding solo.I'm not as big into hiking as last year. Drivibg Lunch (near the bath rooms would be nice) driving, dinner and home 4 to 6 hours I think.

Was a real nice drive, if no rain, need to keep the spacing between cars a little less tight would be suggestion,

Got pretty tight at times.

Very fun and pretty drive though.

Hi guys, can people from Alabama join in??

I'm on the AL/TN border and you guys are the closest group to me. Sounds like a nice a ride in an area I have never seen. Just got back from MTTS and was looking for some groups semi-close to me to do some drives with. I love taking pictures of falls so I would like to know where these are anyway!

Thanks,
Kevin

I was there. I had not had my MINI long at that point and it was my first event I went to. Had a blast and met a bunch of people. Not a lot of MINI activity in AL. I was the only one at MOTD the week and the only one at MTTS other than a couple from Mobile that stayed just for Atlanta. I made it as far as St. Louis before I had to return for work. Would have loved to go all the way to Denver.

I only got to go for one day (Saturday) but it was well worth the drive. Loved seeing all those MINIs in one place.

BTW. . I just wasted an hour of work time checking out your MOTD photos. You have some really great shots there! My crappy camera takes crappy photos. Wish I had a camera that would take shots like that. . I have a great idea for what I think would be a really cool photo but I won't even try it with mine.

Thanks. I love to take pictures. I can't wait to get back to MOTD this year. I want to do that skyway drive this year, I have heard it has some of the best scenery up there. I hope to stay the whole time this year.

I actually drove into Fontana on the Cherohala Skyway. I drove up to Sweetwater TN on Friday night and stayed there. Got up early the next morning and drove the Cherohala. It was beautiful! I have a pic in my gallery of Scarlet parked at one of the scenic overlooks (taken with aforementioned crappy camera).

Welcome aboard ke4sfq ! The more the merrier we always say.

You'll really like this drive if you're into water falls. Fall Creek Falls I believe is the second tallest fall east of the Mississippi. There is also several good falls over at Rock Island state park.

FYI...we will have one car...but two drivers (Gina and Rodney). My wife loves the way the car drives and being a Texas girl, she's not afraid to open it up and let it run.

Came out of work last night and the front of my MINI was smashed. Somebody hit me and ran off in our parking lot. Its drivable but hope to have it in the shop soon. I'll just have to wait and see if I have it back in time.

Oh Crap!

Man there are some real low lives out there these days. Some people just won't take the responsibility for their actions. Are there any security cameras in your area that might have had a view of the parking area? You might get lucky and get a view of who done it.

I hope you get things fixed in time for the Fall Run.

Now that really stinks!!!! What happened to being a responsible driver and owning up to your mistakes. That's what we pay hundreds of dollars in insurance premiums for, isn't it? So sorry to hear about your MINI. . .hope it's boo-boos get better quick!
