Rough engine note?
Rough engine note?
Hello all,
I've been window shopping for a MINI Cooper S for several weeks. Friday, some bi-otch felt the need to total my daily driver, so casual shopping has quickly turned to serious shopping.
I drove a 2007 MCS two days ago. I liked it a lot, but the one thing that has me hung up is the engine (and to some extent the entire car) NVH. When the engine was really revved, it felt surprisingly rough, and the engine sound in the cabin sounded kind of harsh, definitely not smooth and pleasant. There was also a little more road/wind noise than I was expecting.
What are your feelings on the R56 as far as this is concerned? Are these engines known to be a little rough, or have I just been way to spoiled by driving some of the smoothest engines around (BMW straight sixes) for the last 10 or 15 years?
