TSW springs and IE fixed plates

Just put on about 50 miles since the install of the above set up on my 05 MCS. Install experienced a personal/dummy mistake that prolonged the process but parts are of high quality.

I had Hsport adjustable camber plates on stock sport suspension first. Then went back to full stock because the hsport plates where too bouncy on Denver roads. Drove around a while on the full stock struts springs and hats.

This latest combination with IE fixed plates and TSW springs is wonderful so far. The car used to get unsettled in corners or clover leafs when it hit road imperfections (hard to miss them in Denver). My first impression is that it drives more confidently and does not get unsettled that easily. The harsh bounce from the suspension travel is also minimized and softened. There is better absorption for sure. Cornering is alot flatter and understeer is reduced.

I always had a 22mm alta rear sway set at full soft. The addition of the springs and camber plates seems to make the bar shine even more. The back of the car rotates a lot better now.

There is a little more tire noise in turns but that might just be from the need of alignment, we will see. I want to put on a few more miles to let the springs settle before getting an alignment.

As always I got fantastic post sales support from Dustin and fully recommend him for aftermarket parts that are tested.

Your tire noise is because your MINI now has too much toe-in. Adding negative camber adds toe-in on a MINI. You added camber plates, plus TSW springs that also added some negative camber.

An alignment is your fix...

Incorrect toe will eat the tires fast, especially with negative camber so you might want to get an alignment soon.

Thank you for the heads up on alignment. I have one scheduled for this weekend. I am going to ask for camber around -1.4 and toe between +0.11-0.15.

correct, it wont have the range of hsport adj plates or any other adj plate but there will be few tenths wiggle room.

No real adjustment with the IE fixed plates, but as you've said there may be a bit. My MINI ended up with -1.8 & -1.9 with the IE fixed plates on stock suspension. My tire wear has been excellent.

I will take pictures and post for you. I forgot to measure before and after ride height. The rear gap looks to be gone. The front looks a little high to me so far. Hopefully it will settle a bit.

Here is a picture that may help. The last MINI in line is sitting on TSW springs. The BLU one in front of it is on stock springs & shocks.

Doesn't to me either, but that MINI does have TSW springs.

Hi Crashton, this is off topic. If you know (or anyone else) in the picture you posted, is the dark green car on Konig Rewinds and the Blue car in front of it on 16 inch ASA's? Thanks!

You are good at spotting wheels.

Yes the BRG one is on 15" Konig Rewinds.

Yes the BLU one is on 16" ASA JH6 wheels. The blue one is my MINI.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply and I am only good at spotting those two wheels...I just can't decide between the two. LOL.

If you have had time with the BRG car on Rewinds, and if you had the chance to buy wheels again, which way would you go...the JH6 or the Rewinds (really this is about 16 inch versus 15 inch)? Thanks again and sorry again for the small topic detour!

Well that is any easy choice now. The ASA JH6 wheels are discontinued I believe. You can call Tire Rack to make sure. They are a nice wheel.

If I was buying today I would buy the Konig Rewinds. I'm looking to improve my ride & 15" wheels would do that for me.

If I would buy a nice comfy 16" tire for the ASA's I would be happy. For me that is the cheapest solution.

Discount Tire has a pretty nice price for the 15" Rewind.

Back on topic.... TSW springs & IE fixed camber plates.

My TSW springs only lowered my car a small amount, they didn't really slam it down. If you want low for springs, then M7 or H&R are the two I have heard good things about.

TSW lowering is minimal. More so in the back than front, it seems. But the ride is definately improved over stock set up.

I also have a set of 15"s for my car. I used them as my summer daily driver set. The comfort is improved and the performance is sacrificed minimaly on the street. The car used to have 17" TDR for daily driver and it was too rough for Denver street. I have a TDR 16" set for driving events which work out great.
