Hey guys!
I'll let the videos do the "talking"

basically, I can put up my windows and close the sunroof with the FACTORY remote and I have auto up windows on my 2005 WITHOUT ANY wiring or modifications to the car (read: ian culls auto up was not needed)

I have no clue, my brother was the whiz at this. He spent a lot of time working with other BMW owners (he has a 330ci) and yes, hacking BMW software.
I don't have to go to the dealer to activate things like alarms, rear foglight, etc. (already have it tho, just an example)
The MINI has a lot of options available to be changed that the dealer WILL NOT do, for example, in Canada, they won't turn off DRLs. No problem, he turned off my DRLs.
They probably don't know how to enable Auto Up windows on any MINI. The only ones that came with auto up were built in 2001/2002 before BMW changed their mind about including it for "safety".
Windows that go up with remote were never included on any MINI to my knowledge, and it's not available to BE programmed with dealer BMW software. That was done with something else

Ok don't leave us hanging, like myself I'm sure there are several NAM members who would love to have these OEM settings activated. Is there any info, code, or sequence of key turns and toggle taps you can give to make this happen. This is good news to me. Any electrical upgrades from factory is more than welcome.
If I could share, I would. But it takes more than just key a key in the ignition. It's a complex number of computer programs hooked up to your car through the obd2 port using k line. It took about 4 hours and that was due to creating measures plan and backing up the cars vehicle order. (what my bro told me lol, I don't understand it either)

haha, I know a lot of people would love this but it's far too advanced for me to do it and I'm technically inclined!
I talked to my bro and it's a hacked version of the software used by BMW and a combination of other programs put together by BMW enthusiasts.
You need to edit your car and there are chances you can ruin your cars computers by doing it wrong. he initially killed my dsc untill he figured out what went wrong and put it back 2 months later.
he did a bmw m3 convert and fried the convertible module by accident. the top would no longer operate. they replaced the module and got it working at 400 bucks.
the point is there is no support for this, it's like vagcom for audi, it's unsupported and at your own risk. bmw didnt release the software for consumer use.
im just lucky my bro figure it out and didnt wreck my car hahah

Now that's just wrong... flaunt that hotness in our faces and no way to do it ourselves... give us a clue what software he used and how.
You or brother needs to recreate this with software and sell it if you don't want to show us how you/he did that without the "stealer" involved.

I'm guessing this is old news, but here is a board that will get you auto up (at least from in the car) and DSC disable http://www.gbmini.net/wp/auto-up_windows/
I bought a 2003 R50 (in my sig), which is just up from FLA last month and it came programmed to open the sun roof and windows w/a double press-and-hold of the door unlock remote as in the OP's video.
Says in the manual that these and /or other actions can be programmed by the dealer. The stock action of double press-and-hold is to pop the hatchback. Mine doesn't do this anymore, just opens the roof and windows.

I said that it is a stock option for Comfort Open (holding down unlock will open windows and sunroof)
What we programmed was Comfort CLOSE (holding down LOCK on the keyfob will CLOSE windows and SUNROOF)
Thanks.

I know of wiring and computer problems that we have seen in the shop
Trust me people you don't want those kind of problems
Just get the Auto up circuit from FES, http://www.fes-auto.com/products_det...p?productid=35 and be done with it
Ahh, yes, you are right. I only watched the video of the windows opening.
There is a larger hacking communitiy for the BMW ECUs...
but it's a royal PITA to get everything together to start doing it. You can spend hours at www.bmwecu.org to get a hint about it. It's not for the timid for sure.
To do all this stuff, you basically get pirited software (For things like the GT1), and start hacking away! Yes, there is lots that can be done, but yes, you are mucking around in the various brains of the car, and bricking a subsystem is a real risk.
Congrats to the OPs bro for having the ***** to do this. How many would pay $100 for the programming, AND knowing that they may be on the hook for a lot more if it doesn't go well?
FWIW, FES looked at this stuff a while ago, and decided to fry other fish.

It's not that simple at all....
you can't just "write a program" to do it. you have to use a group of very complex software to do it. Distilling it into a little dongle that would do the job just isn't worth the time or effort. You are talking tons of man hours to do the work.
really, if you're curious about this type of stuff, log into bmwecu.org and do some reading. It's both complex and fascinating. But it is not easy at all.

Cool but not worth the risk

Dr Obnxs has the gist of it!
Yeah, definitely not for the timid and luckily my car is 100% ok and accepted the coding just fine. The DSC was screwed up it appears because he tried to put the car to US spec originally but putting it back to Can fixed the issue.
In this case, it's learning from your mistakes and now my bro has the understanding needed to program the car. I think he uses 3 or 4 programs together to "trick" the car plus the cable to the car from the computer.
Just thought I'd post this as I think comfort close is super coooool. If I could have all you guys with comfort close I would do it, but sadly it's just not doable.

. Personally, I'd contribute anything learned while working on my car to fellow enthusiasts.
