2005 MCS = $16,000 (Price payed Used)
Suspension work = $7,000
Engine work = $3,000
Chasis prep and finish work = $4,000
Faulty programing that I F****D up on = PAPERWEIGHT ($30,000 up in ECU smoke because I wanted my windows to go UP with the key)

NOT that it happened but it could.

If Ian's AutoUp did the comfort close, I'd be all over it. Even if that's ALL it did, I'd be all over it.

Park the car, get out, doubleclick, car is locked and everything is closing as you walk away. So sick...
Even if you could do it from a switch in the car would be nice.

I look like a death metal fan every day pressing the two window switches up with a sign of the horns hand gesture and my other hand in the air closing my sunroof.

^^ I'm with this guy^^

Well except the sunroof, I couldn't see having 80+ pounds of glass and mechanical parts on the roof of a car I was buying for performance.

It is cool .... but I am happy enough to put the key in the drivers door lock and hold in the lock position until everything is closed. It also lets me know the key still works!!

Wow, you guys are hard core. Our comp deals in home integration (alot of programming) & have a feel of what it took in getting this done. Hopefully your 'bro is getting sleep now. With all the replies I see very little in the congrats dept.
What I do want to know is what's your next project & is there a way I can help somehow even if we do F*** something up.. .

*PM me anytime*

The current Ian Cull circuit

has a mode where a quick double click on one switch closes both windows.

Well most of us did say it's very cool Home integration, not saying that isn't a lot of work, and dealing with BMW's Siemens ECU is quite a different ballgame. Have you ever seen the program opened up on a computer? It's nuts

Never been on this side of the fence in auto world but learning willingly. Didn't sound like little if any "thumbs up" was given on this end. My apologies if mistaken.. .

You know, posting stuff like that and getting everyone excited is a lot like getting to second base with a pretty woman, then being told "...sadly it's just not doable". You are a lucky SOB to have a friend that can effectively tincker around with the ECU and not brick or muck things up.

The only way to get this is to wait for someone like Jan to get it done.

Moving on.......

Anyone know how to disable the auto door lock or in this case enable auto-door-unlock when shutting the car off? Maybe your "bro" could figure this one out?....

I still can not understand (and sometimes get frustrated over it) the logic of having the doors stay locked after the car is turned off. What if you get into a bad accident and cant open the door or the EMT's can't open the door? They would bust the window for certain but still waist time trying to open the door, then they would slide your happy a** out of a broken window.....

couple things...

this stuff isn't in the engine ECU, so don't wait for Jan. It's not accessable to DimSport software.

Second, there is stuff in the car such that when it detects a crash, the locks are automatically unlocked for just the reasons stated. Not unlocking when the engine stops is probably the right way to do it. Let's say you stall in a really, really bad part of town. The local gang-bangers look over, and see all your lock buttons pop up. Pucker time!

I think everyone is giving thumbs up in their own way.

OMG. I can't believe I just now discovered this. I ran out to my car and the windows and sunroof were open. I put the key in, twisted, and was blown away. haha I love this forum.

That's how his brother did it. He somehow tapped the locking circuit for the remote into the locking circuit of the door.

That is dealer programmable. My brother programmed that for me as well.

You can do it with a Viper alarm installed. Probably most car alarms...

True, but then again I would have two keyless remotes on one keychain.

I guess I will just clench my teeth (while cussing quietly) and smile as I make my way to the lock/unlock button just so I can open my trunk. (*&^%$#>!)

There are two types of people in this world. You can sit back and wait at your keyboard, or you can go out, search, learn, and experiment.

This wasn't that hard. If I could do it, so could you.
