I feel so naked......

While I'm at work, I park my mini under a tent. It keeps the sun and crap off my car so it works just fine.

That was until last night. Apparently the horizontal rain/hail we received didn't allow the tent to fair so well...

Even though the walls aren't there... the rule still stands!!

Oh well, at least this happened after I went home.

Apparently horizontal rain and hail don't play well with canvas. Who'd have thunk it?!

You do look a bit over-exposed sitting there under the shade of the frame. It's a good Tiki look though...your MINI can pull off that look. I love the fact that you love your MINI so much it has it's own tent.

I do own the place but I'd really like to have one of those metal "car shed/garages" but space doesn't allow for it.

We do mostly Lexus, Acuras and Mercedes but we always have a few brotherly vehicles in the shop.

One of our distinguished members here on NAM.

Another recent member who we are doing a color change on his car. It was done poorly in a red with red overspray EVERYWHERE.

The car is going to be absolutely beautiful. It's going white pearl with black trim.

Complete color change...

Another mini'er, just not a forum member...

The shop itself.

I may be a little OC but even when I flew to FL last weekend, I made sure Oscar was covered while he sat in the airport parking deck.

Hey man, you gotta do what you gotta do.

I love the fact that you are parked WAY into the hashed area so other people are as far away as possible.

Absafreakinlutely.... my wife ******* at me all the time....

Ohhh, I got sidetracked... yeah, my wife ******* at me all the time when I make her walk.

Everytime we park the car, she looks around the lot and says "Seriously??? You couldn't park any closer????"

Nope...

The worst is when you park, duck the flying bitching, then come out and find some *** has parked next to you even though there is NO ONE ELSE AROUND and your significant other turns around and say "see, you may as well have parked closer."

Only folks that don't know me that well say that now. The REAL lazy friends just take their own cars, saying I park in ten buck too... and they don't want to walk that far!!! Seriously??? If I could get away with parking my baby in a tent at work.... I would do that in a heart beat. Good Job!

The best part is when the friend/spouse/significant other/whatever complains about walking so far from the car to the mall... where they will be walking all over the place!

I like the car cover. Where and how much, and I assume it comes in red accents as well.

I like the car cover too. I'm not criticizing here but thinking out loud: Isn't it more likely that you will scratch your paint while putting on or taking off the cover than by just having your car uncovered while in a covered parking garage?

I used a cover for my Porsche after I would wash and wax, so it was always clean, and mainly to keep the surface a bit less dusty. Being a nut case, I used to keep it covered in the locked garage. However, I do agree that it is a bad idea to cover a car that is not clean due to the abrasions that could take place. Also a good idea to periodically wash the cover in a commercial machine to get any dirt off off the cover.

In answer to both of your questions. Yes, I would never put a cover (unless it was an emergency... which I could never imagine) on my car without it being cleaned.

Having said that, I just washed and waxed my car on purpose before I left the shop just because I knew I was putting the cover on.

As far as covers... I have two bodyshops and have an acct with cover king. They special made the cover for me (color-wise) but I sell them at no profit to members for 200 bucks. (that includes shipping in the US)

I don't advertise because I'm not a vendor but at the same time, I do sell them as a courtesy to members because I make NOTHING on the covers.

I think having someplace to park at work that's out of the sun is a great idea - I park on one side of the building in the AM, and after lunch I move my Clubby into the shade in back - it makes a big difference in comfort on the way home on these 90+ days with high humidity that we have almost all summer.....

So, are you going to just buy another cover for the structure? How long had the other one been up?

Maybe someone can just sew it back together if it's not sun damaged, maybe add a few reinforcing panels?

You move your car every day? Ahhh huh, someone else as **** as I am...lol.

Yeah, I already ordered a new cover. The cover is about 3-4 years old and between the snow in the winter and the hot NC sun, I'm surprised it lasted that long. I bought the whole assy used for 100 bucks off craigslist.

Today I ordered a replacement cover for 179 bucks. The entire thing is just shy of 400 bucks so it's worth it to keep Oscar out of the sun.

Yeah, but take a look. It never fails that the guy who parks next to you cheats towards your side. "Hey Look! That guy isn't using all his space. That means I can use it!"

Well, I can't say I do it everyday, some days it rains or snows so the sun isn't an issue!

But come the hot days of summer, it's out back by about 2pm. By 5, when I leave, it's been in the shade long enough that the A/C doesn't have to work nearly as hard to get it cooled down in there - it really makes a difference!

Actually, that guy was already there... I just figured since I was so close to the wall and he had a nice car, there's no way I'd have to worry about him...lol.

At least that was the plan.

That member of NAM that you mentioned doesn't happen to have a rear bumper delete mod does he?

you're so lucky that you can even say that. here in nyc, almost every idiot driver has a nice car but they're all dinged up because they just dont give a crap about their cars or anyone else's for that matter.

on your parking style. I backed my MINI into "my" similarly protected spot at our airport last week and got a ticket! I've parked this way for the past several weeks with no warning, but not this time. Apparently, there is a (very small) sign somewhere that says the license plate has to be visible and mine was not.

This week, I parked it nose-in so Barney doesn't write me up again. If I do not pay it in 30 days, they will "impound your vehicle" and "issue a warrant for your arrest"... all because of the serious criminal behavior of backing into a parking space.
