any tips on how/where to replace the visor lid cover (or the entire thing)?

The basic vehicle warranty is 4 years/50,000 miles; you should still be good there. Perhaps you're thinking of the free maintenance program, which is 3 years/36,000 miles...?

If they do, just tell them a gorilla broke into your car and did it...

I had the driver side cover replaced at 1 month of ownership. No question it is very delicate and, I'm afraid, could happen again whenever it is used.

I don't even open them anymore, all I was going to do was clean it. I even stopped my Daughter before she opened the Passenger Visor, I had to explain to her why we don't open those.

So my visor was supposed to be replaced at Mini of Honolulu today BUT... I stopped by on Sat to schedule the service visit for today at 4 PM, I get there today and they tell me, "you know we won't start working on your car until 6 PM, that's when our night shift starts". I don't care when their stinking night shift starts, my appointment was for 4 PM, day shift, night shift I don't care, how long can a stinking visor take to replace? 20 minutes? Ok, fine, I ask them to drop me off at my house and call when it's ready. While waiting for the shuttle I decide to verify they have the part. Surprise, surprise, they just sold the last visor today, it should have been reserved for me but wasn't. A new one will get here Friday... Do BMW/Mini service departments get trained on how to waste customer's time? It's always the same story from these clowns, they never fix anything right the first time! Hell, I've been loosing sleep about this visor getting replaced because I know they're going to screw something else up! I can hear it now... "We scratched your liner, cracked your windshield, we scraped the paint, we dented your hood AGAIN..." Just wait till they get my survey back... These people are working really hard to make sure I never buy another BMW/Mini product again... How can something so simple as a sun visor be such a headache???

I wonder if the new visors have been redesigned or are they the same cheap crap as the old one? Just like the melting hood scoops and HPFPs that fail, they just replace them with the same bad design...

Sucks unless they're all under warranty then you always have new visors...

20011 mini visor issue...

I literally just bought a 2011 copper s it was a demo with 5k on it. Last night I take my girl to the movies she pulls down the visor lifts the cover for the first time and it breaks. From what I gather my warranty will cover this? I prices the whole piece at like 135 dollars!

Mine was broken when I bought the car used. I don't use it much, but when I drive to work in the morning, I use it and remember it is broken. By the time I drive home from work, I keep forgetting to "fix" it. My fix will be removing the bulb.

I literally replace like 3-4 of these a week in customer cars. What surprises me is that MINIUSA has not updated the part, and this issue affects all MINI's even newest 2012 R60's.

2011 Clubman Visor Cover Broken

Add me to the list. I've opened the cover probably 3 times in 2 years. Driver's side is broken on both hinges and the passenger side has one broken hinge. Crappy design with weak plastic. I'll be complaining today at MotorCityMini's Grand Opening (dealership moved).

Mine broke yesterday... two months out of warranty. I think I've used it six times.

I noticed awhile back that my Driver's Side had also broke, I don't even remember using that one, I use the rearview mirror if I really need one.
SA had me come in, go to Parts ($14?.??) and they installed it gratis...a pretty expensive part if you ask me, 5min. job.
