06 Cooper non-H/k with NAV help

First time owner/poster...my apologies if this question has already been answered, but I have unsucessfully spent the last 3 hours trying to find a clear answer.

I just purchased a used 2006 Mini Cooper (non-S or JCW) with the non-H/K head unit and navigation. My car also has the 3-spoke MFSW. Unfortunately, the dealer (Acura, not Mini) I purchased the car from was misleading about the functionality of the bluetooth buttons.

Although I'm amazed that Mini would include these buttons without the electronics to back them up...I will have to concede.

I would like to install a blutooth system that utilizes the buttons on the MSFW. Ideally I would like to maintain the functionality of the navigation system, but do not need the bluetooth system to interface with the nav screen. Other than the factory kit (~$1200!!), my initial search has only led to systems that work only with the non-Nav setup. I have sent an inquiry to MiketheMini through his website, but have not heard back from him.

Any help you can provide would be much-appreciated. I would be willing to replace the HU if necessary, but otherwise I would like to maintain the factory appearance. Thank you!

BTW, I LOVE my Mini (other than this little issue)!! What a fun car!
