I took the plunge last night....goodbye R32...hello Camden

Thanks to all of your input on my many threads this past week or so I am now the proud owner of a brand new Mini Cooper S Camden edition. Will post some pictures this weekend once I have had the chance to take some.

The R32 was hard to let go, but this Mini sure makes up for it. On my way to work I had a "holy ****" moment when I realized I was doing 65 in a 35 by accident. This car wants to go fast.

So for all you Mini maniacs out there, now that I have my car, any advice for a new owner?

Congrats Doc! They do like to go fast...I have to set cruise on some roads around here because it's too tempting. Can't wait to see the pics. Only advice I have is drive it, enjoy it, take care of it, and it will take care of you. Oh, and if you're concerned with wrinkles or smile-lines...too bad.

The R32 is an awesome car, (only a bit on the heavy side). You have good taste in cars! Enjoy your new MINI. Post some pics.

Are you going to mod it out, or keep it stock (good luck with that).

An MKV R32? I'd have kept that AND got the MINI. Different tools for different jobs. Good luck on the new MINI and hope the VW finds a great new home.

The R32 was a 2008, I just never really liked the DSG as much as I made myself believe I did. Got this Camden with a manual and love the fact that I am really driving again for the first time in years.

jonnieoh: I loved the R32, it was heavy you are right. This Mini feels so much quicker in comparison.

jujucooper: Well with a 1yrd old and looking to add another to the family sometime, I don't think a third car was an option. My wife gets the CR-V and I get to have my fun little ride. That is already the best of both worlds if you ask me

I will take some pictures this weekend. It has been raining here nonstop the past couple of days.

Not sure about modding, the car is new to me and I wouldn't really even know where to start modding it. Plus I am sort of a purist, I like to buy special edition cars and keep the OEM.

Congratulations!

Did you ever find out why Mission Control was missing?

My only advice to a new MINI owner would be to ditch the runflats ASAP...

The dealer told me they need to contact MINI HQ to find out and would get back to me in a couple of days regarding the Mission Control. It is not a feature I would necessarily want but if its part of the package and has an off button, I would think I should at least get it in my car or get some cash back.

I think you need to get a tune and ditch the runflats!

Hopefully you won't find yourself missing the R too much. I actually like my R more now than when I got it! Maybe it's cause I've taken my MINI in nearly a dozen times for problems and the R once for the fuel tank recall...

Well I was missing it, in fact this is the first time I went out to the car again before giving the keys to the dealer to say goodbye. It was a great car and it had its moments for me.

Alright finally had a chance to take some pictures of the new ride, you can see the rest in the gallery. I really love this car and can say that so far I miss my R a little less every day. The dealer will be installing mission control as it seems mine was missing it.

Looks sweet - I'm still kicking myself for not ordering the rear fog lights for my Camden.

Congrats on the Camden, beautiful car, very tastefully done. When I walked the lot at Mini of South Atlanta to see what cars really impressed me at literally first sight it was the BRG/White Cooper S (which I eventually bought) and the Camden which was a few cars over. I know right then that I was going to buy one of these two Minis.

Congratulations Dr Strangelove, I've been following your saga and I'm pleased that you chose the Camden after all. It seemed that you really liked it! Get out in this great summer weather and enjoy!

Haha, thank you. I made quite a few posts during my buying decision and was able to get some great feedback from everyone. I am really enjoying this car, that is for sure!
