some maintenance questions

my heater/air conditioner smells terrible.. (i bought this car from a lady who lived in FOCO/Greeley). I'm thinking all I should have to do is change the air filter... where is it located and where is a good place (locally) to buy one?

one of my fog lights is out. I went to autozone to see if they had replacement bulbs and they dont.. where can I buy this locally? also, when i took the screw out to take the front of the lamp off, the bulb seems really tough to get out (i think if i try harder the bulb will break in my fingers), does it even come out by just pulling on the bulb? is there a trick?)

the plastic that lines the fenders and the bottom of the car looks terrible from mag chloride and sun exposure, any recommendations on products that can make these look cleaner/black?

I've heard that the bulbs on the fog lights tend to get hot enough that the plastics tend to fuse together. I'm sure someone has some experience on the best method to remove them.

1) What year MINI do you have ? Cabin Air filter change for 1st gen.

http://www.geekshocker.com/Claire/maint/cabinFilter.php

2) What year MINI do you have ? Depends If it's the driving lights in grille on brackets or the OEM fogs in bumper ?

3) I have been using Mothers Back to Black.

Seems to last about 2 car washings. A tip from a prof auto detailer was to never use any stuff on black plastic trim containing petrolieum products as it will make the black plastic turn white prematurely....to stick with water based products.

Head out to our DIY wash day on July 11th and I'll have some Black Wow there to help restore your trim.

some maitenance questions

The lights on the grill with black MINI covers might have a H-5 bulb, 12 volt 55 watt. These are at Autozone and at Walmart. I have a set and they are not the MINI brand and use the H-5 bulbs. The H-5 has a screw in the back holding it in also. I hope that helps.

I'm not sure if you can. You can probably wait until MITM and hopefully one of the vendors will have it for sale.

quick follow up.

cabin air filter and bulb was bought at ralph schomp. my ac and heater now smell clean while working beautifully.

light bulb came with the little metal plate and wire that plugged into the switch. replaced that and the drives to blackhawk are definitley more luminous

plastics still need some attention.. ill probably try that mothers back to black

thanks for the help guys!
