Noob here, sorry to open up another fluid thread, but I´ve done some reading and have found too many different opinions.

Here's the scoop. I will be doing a transmission fluid change on my 2002 MCS R53 with 100,000 miles. I want to get the Redline fluid. So here it goes:

Which one, given the high milage?? 75W90, MT-90 or MTL?

FWIW, I changed mine at 90K miles with MTL. I haven't noticed anything, except peace of mind.

 

I used Royal Purple synchromax on the 2004 Mini I recently purchased w/ 111k miles on it. Cost only $35 for the fluid.

 

MTL is better than MT90.
The MT90 is a little thick for the MINI and the MTL is just right.

 

I called Redline tech support. You guys are right on the money. MTL is the right one for the MCS. The tech told me MT90 would make shifting very rough.

Today I changed my tranny fluid for the MTL. To be honest, I didn't expect much of a difference. I figured, suspension is stiff, clutch is stiff, steering is stiff, shifting must also be stiff...
Well, glad I was wrong. The MTL did make a lot of difference. Shifting is super smooth now! SC oil is next...
