R-50 Catback: Megan v. Magnaflow
R-50 Catback: Megan v. Magnaflow
I have a chance to get either a Megan or Magnaflow catback exhaust for my '06 R-50. I prefer whatever I get not sound like a ricer pipe, and I'm not all that concerned about how loud it is, as long as it's kinda, somewnat semi-legal on volume.
Is there anyone who's tried both / heard both? Which do you recommend and why?

Given the criteria you've listed, I'll make it unanimous for the posts to this point.
Although it doesn't bother me, after 8+ hours of constant interstate highway driving some folks do grow a bit weary of the Megan's omnipresence. Other than that, it excels in all respects. The testimonials here on NAM are true representations. Plus, you'll be hard pressed to beat the price.
The Magnaflow seems to have a bit more mellow, refined timbre and is less intrusive. There is subset of MINI owners for whom this catback is actually a better fit.
Both sound nice and neither would be confused with a ricer's empty can rattle-racket.

I'll 2nd, 3rd and 4th all the good stuff said about the Megan. I'll also add that, with the windows up, the highway drone becomes a non-issue, especially with a little music in the background. Love the burble on trailing throttle.
