Where to put a subwoofer?
I have a 2003 MINI Cooper S. I'm looking to put a sub in it, but don't know where i should put it. I have considered the enclosures specially made for the mini but I'm on a budget. So i was thinking i could make my own enclosure were i would just level out the folded down sits with the trunk space and put a shallow mounted sub and an amp in there. The previous owner had a sub in the car but i don't know where. There are cut out rectangles under the driver and passenger seats and there are to small holes drilled in the back in the trunk space.

Here are where others have posted their installs. I have a shallow mount 12 in the trunk with a false floor over it. It sits only about six inches high, so it is flush with the seats when they are folded down. We managed to get 1.1 cubic feet of air with our build. I don't know how some of the people with the boxes that are flush with the rear hatch are able to get enough air for the sub with their build.

Sounds like the original owner had amps under the seats and a sub in the trunk area. I would recommend the JL Audio Stealthbox. It sounds amazing. But if it's out of budget you could go custom assuming you have the patience to do it right and make it look good with the right volume inside the box.
