Lotus Colorado Track Day June 27 2010

It is time again.

D(ick) Shearer has asked me to be the proxy for MINI5280 participation in the June 27 Lotus lapping day

If you interested, I have the registration packets in email format, so contact me at don.suiter (@) gmail (dot) com.

A full day of lapping with Lotus, this event has limited spots so send in the information early.

Cost: $125

You will need a tech. inspection at the track, before going on track.

Make out the inspection form before you come to the track.

Organizer is John Arnold of the Lotus Club.

Here is a cut/paste of the schedule.

approval upon inspection of the participating vehicle at the track. The entry deadline is June 15th. 2010. Entry must be made through Official Registration Form.

TIME

Schedule

1:00 – 3:30
Alternating fast/slow laps.

4:00 -- Track closes

The schedule may change as conditions warrant or as participants request. For first time drivers, there will be driving instructors available for track familiarization and driving instruction.

I really enjoyed the after-lunch sessions when the MINIs ran with the Lotus Elise's and Exige's.

A few weeks ago, I stopped by Ferrari Denver and it was mentioned that Bill S. plans on bringing a few Ferrari's out. I suspect the Lamborghini folks will be out too.

I plan on being at track early then leave early after lunch or I may hang until 4:30 of so.

I'll be out there for sure. I'm not sure I'll participate but watching sounds like almost as much fun.

Track Days

Do you know if we can run the whole track or just the partial track at High Plains Raceway?

We will be running the whole track, as they did last year.

Limited passing on the straightaways with a point by.

Some of the groups might have a pace car.

I am trying to get the MINIs grouped with the Lotus folks, so we can have some spirited laps.

Wed. bump. We are getting some interest, should be fun.

Looks to be about 6 MINIs who have requested entry information, I hope everyone has sent the packet to John Arnold of the Lotus Club.

Let me know you got the packet in email. You should be good to go.

We have had a little more late interest. I will try to go back through my emails and see if I can do an interest list.

I am not going to be able to make this event. Working five 12 hour days plus a few 1/2 Saturdays.... Adding 1 more thing in to this week is 1 too much right now.

I am anxious to see pics & hear all about the fun though!

Mike,
Will take pictures between laps, perhaps an in-car vid, if I can get the go-pro mounted up.

I've never been out to HPR but would like to spectate. Any tips? Do they have seating or concessions? I looked at their site and couldn't find anything with regard to that.

They have good bleachers on the west and east ends, good spectator areas. Always good to bring a camp chair and some cool drinks (water, soda)....

The Byers General store runs the concession, they have a good variety and some good sandwiches and breakfast burritos.

I think they will be open on Sunday since it is the open season for track rats.

For those of us that are spectating.

I think we should meet at the Starbucks at I-70 and Tower around 8 or 8:30. Any takers?

also
I'll bring some sodas for anyone that's interested. It's not a huge cooler but I can manage.

Bring your torque wrench and sockets for wheel lugs.

I will bring my air tank full up, so if someone needs to top up the tires.

Bring and air gauge and whatever you might need in simple tools.

Bring a chair, bring shade if you have it. Big hat and water.

If you have a spare set of front pads even older ones, bring them. You never know, but I don't think anyone wants to change pads in the sun.

I am not bringing my heavy jack, so I hope someone has a light weight one they are tossing into the MINI.

Hopefully we will have a canopy or two at the track and possibly a trailer if everything works out right.

I hope noone has any major mechanical and we all drive home at end of day.

Don

If worse comes to worse, you can borrow a spare from me. If I'm not using it.

Remember to top off your brake fluid if your not changing it out for newer/better fluids. I run the MINI brake fluid on low-key lapping days, no problems, but I keep the reservoir full to the line.

Check out the events area of the lotus Colorado website for an update to the daily schedule.

HERE:

Btw, I will be bringing a 17 inch spare, but I will be running my 16s. I am off to swap wheels, brakes and tires at U's shop.

Should be a fun filled day.
