I live in Southern California and I would like to share our MC buying experience to those who are waiting or about to buy MINI and do not want months of waiting time. My brother and I were able to buy the MINI of our choice, color and options and paid MSRP or close to it without the unwanted dealers added option and no waiting . We did our shopping in the web, Yahoo in particular. We found dealers in New York, Virginia and Florida that sells MINI at MSRP. We conducted our business by phone and faxes alone. We were able to close the sale the day we found the car with the specs of our choice. Having found the MINI that we want we had the dealer fax to us the bill of sale listing all the options, every single options that the dealer might want to add and our cost out the door for our review. Once we agreed with what's listed we just sign the bill of sale and fax it back to them and the car is ours technically and cannot be sold to others unless we give up our right to the car. My brother is flying to Virginia on Thursday to pick up his Pure Silver black top premium, sport and cold weather package MCS to be driven back to San Diego. Plane ticket for two less $250.00 each. I had similar experience three weeks ago and bought my MINI in Florida. I just don't understand why so many people waiting up to 8 months to get a MINI when they are available at MSRP across the Country right now.

jceviche, you and your brother are good shoppers! Extreme drivers, but good shoppers

Your point is well made, as I've commented before. Shop around, and there are many MINIs out there now that can be had at MSRP. Look hard, and you may find one with exactly - or close to - the options you want. Then, balance out the difference between getting your MINI now and what it costs in time and energy to go get it. Is this better than waiting for 6 months? To you, yes. To others, maybe not. But the point is to do the research on the actual purchase (and not just the options and colors) -- as you've done -- and then make the decision. I do think that more and more people are finding that they don't have to wait if they just look around. It seems that except for S. Cal and a those places that NEVER have had many dealers, MINI supply is definitely better than it was 6 months ago. So, heroic waits may indeed be an artifact of "early adopters"...and new MINI buyers may not have this "joy" to look forward to.

So how do you like the car you brought over last month?

Because it's easier to have time to wait, as opposed to having time to do all the leg work?

If you live in Northern California, visit Concord MINI. I was in yesterday for esspresso and they have around 15 MC & MCS in stock, most colors, and available for immediate delivery. Give Mariah a call and tell her Miles sent ya. I get nothing but my Italian Roast Esspresso in return. They have been a pleasure to work with and service has been very responsive. Motor ON!

FUN FUN FUN.
I have own my MCS exactly 19 days and already have logged in 4400 miles on it. Granted I put 2600 miles when I drove the car from Florida to San Diego and the rest of 1800 miles, just motoring around San Diego with my family of four. I have nothing but fun fun fun. I had one warranty repair done to it, to replace the front passenger sport seat due to backrest failed to recline which was done at Irvine MINI last week. The Mrs and two kids are now converted to MINI'ism.

I know, that if you don't want to wait, Crevier MINI has a few on the lot ready to go right now, including a DS/W MCS w/package 1 and blue lapis and a PW/PW MC with pack 1 & 2. If you don't mind getting lojack, mats and permaplate (whatever that is), including the charge that goes with, you can get one right now. but, I think that if you pushed a little bit, you could get the price at pretty close to MSRP.

Well this is the kind of unwanted options that makes the MINI price go up. But if you really wanted these options then it's OK. For those who are unable or not wanting to drive the car across the Country for $850 you can have it shipped by land transport. I was told that it takes one week to transport a MINI from New York to California.
