Selling '05 Mini Cooper -- Best place to list?
Does the NAM marketplace work well for anyone? How about Autotrader or Cars.com?
The time has finally come for me to sell my 2005 Mini Cooper. It's a base model with 57,500 miles and a 5-speed manual transmission. It's pepper white with a black roof, black mirrors, and a charcoal interior with leatherette. I live in Chelmsford, Massachusetts (about 40 minutes from Boston, and 20 minutes from Nashua, NH).
I'm posting it now in the marketplace. But I just wanted to get a bead on what NAM folks have had luck doing in the past.
Best,
Jamie

Free is best
NAM, maybe regional MINI forum(s), Craigslist. When I have trouble with those, I do ebay. I've bought and sold a few cars on ebay. I cannot speak to cars.com, but I had a car on autotrader for a while and it didn't pan out.
As always, you mileage may vary

I'll give NAM a few days, and then if not I'll try Craigslist and/or eBay.
The last time I sold a car I posted it on Craigslist, cars, and autotrader.
1) Craigslist got me 2 or 3 of those "I'll pay you more than it's worth. Just ship me the car along with a refund" type of offers. Zero leads. I don't recommend them.
2) Cars has the best tools to produce a slick looking ad. I really like them. Except for the fact that I got very few leads from them.
3) Autotrader got me the most leads. Most of the interested parties said they found my add here.
YMMV

When I was shopping for my MCS I was generally on Autotrader, Cars.com, or Craigslist. I liked autotrader a lot because you can search for specifics, and that there were usually lots of pictures available for each car. Make sure that if you sell on Autotrader that you have tons of photos. That always helps.
I have sold a couple of cars online - I live in the midwest, so results may vary.
However, two of the cars were sold on Autotrader.c o m The third car was sold on ebay, when a buyer saw the ad and called my cell (which I listed) and bought the car outside of the auction on day one.
I dont like craigslist - too many stupid emails and spam. I also didnt like cars. c o m because I kept getting calls from brokers offering to get me the asking price if I would pay them $500.
My advice - give as much detail as you can, and use as many photos as you can. Its never failed to get my cars sold.

Selling a Mini
AutoTrader can help you list it and help you determine a good asking price. Visit https://sell.autotrader.com/syc/pricing_tool.jsf to get started.
From there it's a few clicks to listing a vehicle. Prices vary from $25 to $70 to advertise.
