We'd probably have gone with Verizon if this phone hadn't been rumored to be coming out. And the $$ was a bit prohibitive for our Budget. We'd gone to look at both options, Store wise, we currently have AT&T, Hubby wants to ditch ASAP!!

I wasn't much interested in really looking at the time, I had a Walker and was recovering from Heart Surgery, I just nodded most of the time...
"Yes Dear...!!" Anyway...as far as being Sick of Him...naaaa...he's a 4 Year Old in a 50 Year Olds' Body anyway, I'm used to it!!

Debating very hard about leaving BlackBerry for this phone. Right now it's either going to be the EVO or the new Bold (Tour2).

Both are released before my birthday and that is all I have requested for my joyous occasion. I've had my 8130 for well over 2 yeas waiting for Sprint to get something worth upgrading too. Now it's on me to decide which one.

The EVO is the first phone that has tempted me away from the CrackBerry.

Hubby and I checked out the www.androidmarket.com site last night...all I have to say is WOW!! Apps. for this phone are endless, both FREE and a little $$, I'm even getting a little excited!! We both have the Blackjack II right now and our contract is about to expire as well, so looks like the EVO will be our next phone option and a change in carriers as well.

Good Luck with you phone choice Not4no1!!

Maybe it's my browser effing with me, but when I click on your link above for the android market, I get directed to http://www.roboticmagazine.com/

I have now read the press releases for the EVO & saw the plan that Sprint is offering on this phone...

...Sorry BlackBerry, there seems to be a new love in my life. My next new phone will be the EVO...now I have to wait just over a month till my birthday, Ugh!

Maybe with a little convincing, I can bump up my birthday present up by a month.

Sounds interesting, but a $10/month surcharge for the mere capability of doing 4G even if you live in an area not currently served by 4G!?!? And I love the WiFi hotspot (tethering via WiFi) feature, but at $30/month extra on top of your voice, data and text fees, this phone seems to have a LOT of extra costs.

the $10 is for extra "expected bandwidth usage", eg. native HD utube, streaming video, live video chat, sprinttv, etc. it's not for 4g and it's uncapped. considering BES or iPhone data package is $30, $10 isn't all that bad.

Don't bother spending $30 on the tethering, once you root the phone, you'll be able to turn it on like other driod phones.

If your leaving BlackBerry for the EVO, the $30 is a wash. Every BB on any carrier has a $30 BB server charge.

But as Krim said, if you don't opt to tether, root the phone, or use a 3rd party app, there is no worry about the charge.

My bill might go down leaving BB for the EVO.

Sprint doesn't... simply everything for $100 is, literally, everything. except for tethered phone as modem usage. BES, if you need it for corporate crackberry services and not the basic BIS (internet, email, and pin messaging), it's included.

I have an old "grandfathered" plan. Sprint keeps calling me asking me to change plans for more minutes (and more costs) I keep turning them down because I would have to sign a new contract & I have been contract free for over a year. (pluss I never go over minutes)

My plan is the old "Fair & Flexable" for (800min shared + $5 for each 100min over) & I have to pay the $30 BB plan on top of the Fair & Flexable minutes. The $30 (per BB) covers unlimited text, data, email, PIN & I tether both BBs (8130 & 8330) as my home internet. (Never been Capped)

Scouring the plans, the new contract might cost less since I am leaving BB.
*crosses fingers*

I am starting to get excited for my new phone...this 2 month wait till my B-day is gonna dragggggggg.

Thanks for the link.

I am sooooo anxious to get this phone! The last time I was this anxious for a new "toy" was about a year ago when I was waiting for... my MINI. Oh, and I am not due for an upgrade until Aug 1st so I will have to wait longer than a lot of folks. Oh well, maybe they will work out whatever kinks they may come across.

I just hope I can justify whatever increase in my bill this phone will necessitate. I am on a 1500 minute Family messaging plan with a total of 4 lines and paying $120/month. If I am reading all the info correctly I would need to move to an Everything Data plan with the $10 EVO surcharge that will run $180/month. Yikes!

I plan to go to Best Buy this weekend to see if there is anything I can do to keep it lower than that, otherwise my wife may not approve the funds.

Yep. Only BB and Radio Shack as I understand. But, if you happen to be a Sprint Premiere customer you may get special treatment by going through Sprint like getting fees waived or getting a new phone sooner than 22 months. I'll be checking that out as well.

BB here in town has treated us well and has a couple of very knowledgeable folks working in the mobile phone department.

I'll be sticking with my Palm Pre and skipping on the EVO. I bought my Pre on lunch day last year so I'm eligible for the upgrade, but I'm waiting for Palm's next WebOS device. WebOs is such a great os and I can't imagine downgrading to android device.

I have to say that Android is tempting even me. My Tour is starting to tick me off - RIM has really dropped the ball on web browsing. Couple that with a trackball that I want to gouge out and it looks like I'm headed to Android or iPhone soon...

To the poster about the Pre....glad someone likes it.

Google gave away 5,000 HTC EVO's free to registered attendees of the Google I/O conference in San Francisco this week. We have a few in our office now. Conference attendees also received a free Nexus One as well. Of course, some of those EVO's have already been put up on eBay.
