If you haven't been on or even heard of the Twist-n-Shout, then you'll want to get your driving gloves and shoes out of the closet for this. Held every other year, this drive is in eastern Arizona down Hwy 191 from Alpine, AZ to Clifton, AZ. It's over 90 miles of twists and turns that will quicken your pulse and deepen your appreciation for your MINI. The level of excitement is yours to determine, and the scenery is wonderful with pine forests almost the entire length. The "end point" is at a very large open pit mine at Clifton which is amazing in its scale.

The drill is that we drive over on Saturday, meet up with the Arizona MINIs for a large group dinner and meet and greet. We overnight in Pinetop/Lakeside. Last time we went out to a lake for photo opps before dinner. Sunday morning we rise early enough to get on the road at 8 a.m., traveling as a large group through the mountains and forest. Lunch is picnic style at Hannagan Meadow (there is a lodge there, but no restaurant), then on to even more excitement on the road and our rest stop and split-up point in Clifton.

Sunday is a long day if you choose to make it back to your hometown, which we usually do, but traveling in a group makes it much more fun.

We have negotiated a blocked room rate at a host hotel for the overnight stay in the Pinetop/Lakeside on Saturday the 11th. I'll get that information posted up here later today!

We have about 20 Mini RSVPs so far, so I'm expecting about the same Mini count as 2008 for us from AZ, 30-35 Minis.

Finally back from Iraq! Heading over to the dealership here in El Paso this week to see what kind of participation I can get from the motorers down here in far west Texas. No matter, I am going!
