xm for 2007 mini

Just traded my '03 Mini in and bought a 2007 S model. Wanted to install my blitzsafe xm adapter that was in the old car. Its the BMW/XM SLD 01 with the XMD 1000 Tuner. I'm being told that its not possible on the hardtop because of fiber optics in the radio? If it were a convertible I could. This seems odd,but wanted feedback before I tried to install. Was very easy to do in the '03, but lost my install paper with photos. Please help I can aslo be reached at mahogal@gamil.com Really want my XM back.

Second Gen car run a MOST BUS for the audio system, thus the unit out of your first gen car will not work.

The reason it would work in a 2007 Cabrio is that is still a first gen car, but the 2007 hard top is a second gen car.

There's no solution for the Blitzsafe device in the 2nd Gen MINI.

If you really want to run XM or Sirius, there are several "how to's" in that forum. I followed it and had my Sirius up and running less than 30 minutes after the UPS guy dropped off the antenna cable.

Basically, the 2nd Gen has a pre-wired SAT RADIO antenna that terminates under the passenger seat. I purchased a Sirius "head unit", ordered a 5" antenna cable (dealer and part number provided in the How-To) and installed it with no hassle at all.

Enjoy!

XM/Sirus aftermarket does play through the Aux portion of your stock Radio or HiFi.

It does not tune the channels through the stock Radio, but they come with Remote for that.

Did you put the antenna/head unit under the passenger seat? If not, where?

I tucked mine into the back of the cubby hole in the center console. A little double-sided tape and it's in there, out of the way and out of sight.
