Droid Paired but not connected

I am the proud owner of a brand new 2010 Mini Cooper (without nav) that has the premium package with bluetooth. I have a mainstream Motorola Droid with 2.1 update1 OS. I can pair the phone and enter the password/pin on both the car and the phone but cannot connect to the bluetooth. I can pair and connect with other devices, as well as the Toyota I traded in, any help is greatly appreciated!!

Any chance you have another Bluetooth capable phone to try? Others have reported the Droid as working, but I don't have notes on which version of the OS they were running.

(EDIT: For what it's worth, both notes I have on the Droid were reported in 11/09)

If you could try another phone, that would rule out problems with the car.

I will see if I can get one -- The Droid was working perfect with my Toyota and connects to other headsets. Thanks for any help!

Okay folks, I'm getting somewhere -- after trying for the umpteenth time, I was able to connect. Now my question, is how do I get the car to connect automatically each time I start the car? I can't find this in the manual.

Thanks to all for help!

I love the Droid, I love the Mini, Life is good!!!

Automatic connection should be a function of the phone not the car.

The car on start up sends out a signal "I'm here" and the phone is the one that really accepts the connection.

Previous poster is correct. Once you get in the car and start it and the phone is on it should connect automatically. My wife and I are both running IPhones and occasionally they will not connect. We just re-boot the IPhone and it works fine. Sometimes the IPhone just gets jammed up. You may or may not have the same issue with the Droid, but If you do a reboot generally that solves the problem.

Here is what worked for me. My phone (HTC EVO) was paired and working just fine. Then I noticed that I had missed some phone calls and realized I had lost connectivity. It said paired, but not connected.

So I finally decided to 'delete' the phone from MINI. I then followed the manual to add a phone and it worked just fine.
Don't know if this is a fluke or not and if it is going to happen again. What caused the problem in the first place, still not sure. It could have been an upgrade of the software of the phone.
But it works now. Hope this helps.

God bless you all.
