My wife purchased a set of 'Driver Edge' strips for the Mini. Upon arrival I decided to have it applied professionally by an authorized 3M applier, as suggested in the instructions. However, the professional applier advised that the strips could not be used due the inability to conform to the curves of the car possibly due to the age of the material. So the professional applier had to cut new material. I inturned contacted Cooper Flags concerning this matter,ie., 3 emails and one fax..and still there has been no reply back concerning this issue. Anyone else experiencing this problem? :???: :???:

I think your "professional installer" doesnt' know what he's talking about. I applied the Driver's Edge stripes to my MCS myself and they worked just fine. Patience is all that is needed.

I'd try to find someone else to do the install. There's nothing wrong with the stripes themselves.

If you're unable to contact them you can always call your credit card comany and dispute the charge. But give them a few days first, they may be on vacation this week.

I just purchased the same stripes from CooperFlags. Once they arrive, I may get it professionally installed by the guy putting on my 3M Paint Protection. What do you mean by "re-cut" the item. Did your installer apply the stripe from CooperFlags or did he have to make a new one?

BTW, in my correspondence with Matt, he has always responded (I had an incorrect order, which he rectified)- although obviously not immediately. Give him time to answer his emails (if his experiences are anything like mine, he probably gets a hundred a day) or phone him if you want an immediate response.

Again.the Authorized 3M installer could not use the material..due in part to the age of the material thus could not conform to the curves of the car. He re-cut new materil from his own stock and used that for the install..

By-the-way..he extended the 'new' cut stripes into areas where JerseyGirls pixs wasn't done. Installer did this a challenge to him self..if interested I'll send pixs to those who are interested..

"age of the material" sounds like an excuss to let the installer charge you for his materials versus installing someone elses material and only making money on the labor.

That was part of my point as well. If you're happy getting over-charged, more power to you.

Just because someone is a certified 3M installer doesn't mean they are honest.

When I was going to have some CooperFlags stripes installed, I called a sign place and they said they wouldn't install with someone elses vinyl. I ended up selling them anyway.

Matt was great though.

Got your initial e-mail on 11/20 and worked out issues with the phone number for the installer on Friday 11/21. I did not get a chance to call them until yesterday and I could not get through.

Today I talked with Chris @ Chariot Graphics and they install/sell Avery graphics and not 3M. We use a 5-7 year material and they said they use an 8-year. The difference is minimal, but some Avery installers don't like installing, or are uncomfortable, with 3M stuff.

From the oustide it seems like they got into the install and something went wrong. It's easier to say it's the product and not the installer, when it's not your product. I want to make this right and within the MINI Community I think Cooper Flags is knowing for having quality products with top notch customer service. Let me know what you think is fair in this case and I'll do what I can within reason to reslove the issue.
