MINIFunDrives is a week away from another exciting day of motoring with other MINIs here in the Houston/Galveston area! Yes, Saturday, April 24th is the 5th Annual Cruising MINI Style - Galveston, Texas. This event benefits the Shriners Hospitals for Children - Galveston.

T-Shirts Purchase

If you want to guarantee your T-Shirt size, please respond by e-mailing with your intent to purchase a shirt and the size you want by Monday, April 19th at 9 AM CST. The event T-Shirts are $20, and the entire $20 will be donated to the Shriners Hospitals for Children - Galveston. Click here to e-mail your pre-reserve request along with t-shirt size. Shirts can be picked up at the event on Saturday, April 24th.

Event Starting Meet up Location

The starting location is at Kohl's at 6520 Garth Rd; Baytown, Texas. Please see the attached PDF for an illustration of the parking lot and where in the parking area the MINIs will be staged before departing.

Gathering starts at 9 AM, the event briefing will be at 9:45 and we plan to depart on time at 10 AM.

If you want a contact mobile number in advance please e-mail a request. Having a the contact mobile number is helpful in case you think there could be a delayed. The directions for the entire event are included in the event/ route guide PDF. Unfortunately, We will not be able to wait beyond the departure time for this event.

Event Pre-Registration

If you would like a name badge (registered drivers will receive a free lanyard)please click here to e-mail your name. Pre-Registration cut off is 8 PM CST, April 22nd. There is no fee to pre-register or to attend this event, regardless if you register or not. This is another FREE MINIFunDrives event. Participants are responsible for their own fuel and meal expenses.

Meals for the Event

Lunch on Saturday's event will be at Coconuts on the Bolivar Peninsula, we plan to be at Coconuts by 11:30 AM. The awards and wrap up dinner will be at Top Water Grill in San Leon at 5 PM. Both places allow separate checks, and take credit cards.

Menus for both restaurants are included in the event route / guide PDF that is downloadable from the website. Click here for the PDF. Coconuts phone number is on the menu and you are welcome to call your order in ahead of time. For call in orders please let them know you are with MINIFunDrives, and give them your name and cell number. Once the group is about 20 to 25 minutes from arriving at Coconuts we will call them so they have a heads up on our arrival. Both dinning venues are expecting us on the 24th.

Tips

• A FRS radio is highly recommended. They can be purchased and are inexpensive. Check out Wal-Mart, Target, Radio Shack, Frys and Best Buy to purchase one.
• If you wish to feed the seagulls, bring a loaf of bread. When crossing the ferry you can go to the back of the ferry to feed the seagulls.
• The initial start of the drive is the longest stretch of driving from Baytown to the Bolivar Peninsula. There are very limited services providing restroom needs or fuel. Please take care of all restroom needs before departing at 10
• This event contributes to the Shriners Hospitals for Children - Galveston. This hospital provide care for children with serve burns. It's an amazing outreach the hospital does at no expense to the patients. Please be prepare yourself for the visual trauma that some of the children will exhibit.

 

We had 34 MINIs for this event, raised over $1,260 dollars for the Shriners Hospitals for Children - Galveston.

man i did not know about this cruise but went to the beach later that same day. some biker guy approched me and asked if i was apart of the big photo shoot he saw earlier. oh well next time i'll make it.

the event typically would of been scheduled in April. The 6th annual event date has been pushed back to July this year. I'm still working out the details and will post something soon as I can. I'm leaning towards Saturday, July 18th or July 25th.
