Horsepower doesn't always translate into performance- read the Evo MINI mod shoot-out in the latest magazine (The Supercar Issue) as discussed recently in the performance mod forum. The car modded to the highest horsepower (225) received the worst review of all, while the Works kit was the first choice of the reviewers, even though it wasn't the cheapest or the pure fastest of the bunch. As has already been said many times: sometimes the whole is a bit more than the sum of its parts.

i agree!!!! the comment was meant for my buddy. i have also upgraded the suspention a lot as well. my car handles great. im not saying that one is better that the other. i was having some issues with my setup last week if you check out my other thread so really i am just happy that i am getting the kind of #s that i should have been getting before. no hostillity or judgement on either mine or the works. i like to mod my car more for me than anything else. so if that came across cocky i didnt mean for it to i am hust really pleased that all the blood sweet and tears
i have put into my little project are living up to my expectations.

i have done 99% of the work myself so its a pride thing to some degree.

Wish I had the nerve (and set-up and skill!) to do my own work. Hats off to you, and I can certainly understand the pride in getting your own good results. Doesn't seem cocky at all. It's also no doubt much cheaper than the route I'm taking- JCW MCS on order (unless the Dinan can hold it's own over the Works kit- we'll see!!).
Mike.... The Dyno was great fun on Sunday. I had a funny feeling your car would have more HP than my Works. I was as excited as everyone there when your chart came up, if you want a copy of mine as a baseline for comparing your car to the "stock" Works let me know. My office is right down the street from your work, call me and come by anytime.
You should be proud of your car, it runs like stink. We have gone about gaining HP over stock in different ways.... the end result is we both have very fast cars and enjoy driving the heck out of them. I must say... I am glad you got rid of the "periscope".
We sure have fun with our car and that is the most important thing. My hat is off to you for having the ability to get your car to where it is.

minicoop78,
If you don't mind me asking, what mods have you done to get the hp where it is at right now? I am going your route as well because of cost, although I wish I could afford the JCW package
