I have an 02 MCS with 04/02 build date. When I bought it, the previous owner said the plug wires had been replaced recently. While I was working on my car, I checked them out and noticed they had 2001 printed on them.

I would assume any wires replaced in the last X years would be manufactured in a year greater than 2001, UNLESS that is not the year.

Can I trouble a few people to go check their oem wires and see what they say? Let me know the year of your car and the number printed on them.

It is possible that the wires were replaced with factory wires that were from the dealers stock which could have been manufactured in 2001.

 

I thought of that as well. I just wouldn't think something like plug wires would be on the shelf for 5+ years. I guess you never know though.
