install Hands Free on 2008 s convetible

Can anyone tell me how they like their hands free on a model year before 2007 (hardtop) and before 2009 (convertible). I have a 2008 s convertible and was wondering if I should get the bluetooth package installed (the phone button is on my steering wheel right now). I wonder how you would or could scroll through your contacts and if the sound quality is any good with the top down. Thanks for any info.

This should probably be in the first generation forum.

I have the OEM bluetooth that integrates with Nav. Some phones works with the nav display (for instance, my palm centro will display incoming number, but not load phone book. Girlfriend's razor with do phonebook, etc.) Call volume is pretty crappy. Might be better if you have a hardtop, but convertible is bad. Forget about using it with the top down.

I have a 2009 cabrio and installed a Parrot bluetooth with newministuff MFSW wiring. It works wonderful but with the top up. Top down is very noisy for anyone on the other end of the conversation. At almost any speed with the top down you can barely make out who the voice system is announcing.
I've owned many drop tops over the years and didn't expect it to be any better than this but it is much needed as more and more states go hands free only. I also like to shift and drink java while talking to the office. Beats sitting in the office

That depends on if you like a display or not. I went for the MKI9000 because I wanted a stealth install. Didn't want another display to mount, but that is personal. There are pictures in other posts of units mounted along side the tach, and they look nice. I would add that having a display will greatly enhance ease of use. You have to use the MFSW buttons to navagate through voice menus to access the different options if you don't have the display. Again, personal preference.

You could send them an email with your questions. Mike at newministuff was very helpful with answering my questions throughout my purchase and install.
