What I did on Saturday

Installed Coilovers. Took way too long due to a few issues, but it's all resolved at the moment

Still need to put on my rear control arms sometime this week and get it aligned properly. I think I'm going to try to lower the front a little bit and bring the rear up. I couldn't be bothered to readjust Saturday night at 11:30pm...

Chrome has been gone for a while since I got my door handle covers from Asthetic Creations this past fall. Sadly they're starting to fade/turn gray and outside that 90 window. Hoping I can find out how to remove that adhesive and pull them off eventually and respray them with Plasti-dip as that stuff seems to stand up to the elements.
---
Before I do that, actually I'm going to try some Back to Black/Black Magic/ whatever that stuff is called.

Jim - Yes! My friends are already ragging on me enough for buying all these performance parts without actually taking my car to a course/track.

Thankfully I've gotten my revmatching down and I'm 80% there with heel-toe.

Jeff you will love the roadcourse, also there are alot of events at the meadowlands, and it is a new lot 3 times the size of the old one. Hopefully you can make a few events.
If you are going to make the event at Englishtown we can meet up f you want and head down together.

When it comes to painted black surfaces and any black plastic parts on the MINI, best to use "water based" products. Over time, the oil or silicone based stuff will actually make the black plastic trim turn prematurely white.....

This was a recent tip I received from a professional detailer last week......

As far as what to do now....

Do not try to remove the AS covers. The 3M brand tape Mike uses is very, very sticky and you will only damage the nice molded covers during removal. Paint them on the car.

I would clean the AS door handle covers with dawn dishwashing liquid. Then tape the area surrounding well with news paper and auto body shop quality masking tape. ( yes regular masking tape bites the big one when paint gets on it for multiple coats - get the good stuff from an auto paint supply store - My 2 cents )

Then apply a coat of DuPont Adhesion Promoter - Autozone or Advanced Auto sells it.

Then a few light coats of satin or flat black paint.

Afterwards, make sure to use only water based conditoners for the black plastic parts.

Good luck.

Dave

That stuff didn't work on the handles, I'm likely going to have to figure out how to get them off and spray them. I'll check to make sure I'm using a water based blackening product.

As far as ride height goes, I'm likely going to shoot for another .5" in the front and probably raise the rear .25" to .5".

I'm currently sitting at 24" at the front arch, centered on the wheel hub, and 23" at the rear arch, again centered at the wheel hub.
