Help! my clutch has a quiet ?ringing tone when I depress it, only when I'm putting it into first and taking off from a stop.

Planning to go into the dealer soon, I hope they'll hear it, but any ideas?

Mine has been doing the same thing for about 15k miles. Comes and goes. I started a thread on it a while back and it seemed there were a number of other people with the same sound. Of course, I've never been able to reproduce it with a Mini tech in the car - tried twice. I'm assuming it's not a big deal, just another annoying noise amongst many.

 

Exactly Xalfa...it comes and goes. thats why I wanted to see if anyone knew about it...in case the dealer can't reproduce it...but its good to know others have it and it hasn't been an apparent serious problem. thanks, Jenni

 

My car does the same thing.........However, I'm not sure if it's the clutch. I hear this ringing sound when I'm driving......very suttle, but there. The car runs fine and has no apparent problems from this.

 

Mine doesnt ring but it does make a weird pumping noise when I press and let go of the clutch, I dont know if thats normal or not...also my clutch feels sticky lately when coming out of first.

Yup, I have the same pumping noise (I think) when I press in the clutch. I'm due to go to the dealer on Wednesday to have that (amongst other things) looked at. Mine sounds like a 'squish' noise, but I really only hear it when the window is open. There's a bit of a 'clunk' when I release the clutch as well. I'll post my results after the trip to the dealer.
