Passenger Side Mirror Stolen: what are my options?

I drove up to San Francisco yesterday and some jerk stole my right side mirror. It was removed w/ surgical precision which suggests this wasn't the first time the thief did it. Anyway, I need to replace it in the most cost-effective, expedient way and I'm not sure what my options are (dealer? body shop? buy the part(s) online or on eBay and do it myself?) Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have a '05 Cooper S with white side mirrors (or more accurately, one white side mirror at this point). I'm pretty upset about this...

Cost effective is usually not convient.....price it out a ways...then do it. If you are not handy...then your choices will be much more limited...ie, the installer will order it, and install it.
You might get lucky...and find someone parting out a car....the caps might be the wrong color, but that gives you an excuse to buy some union jacks.
If you go to realoem.com, you can see what the dealer pricing is like.

Man, that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. Usually thieves want the whole car. Must be the economy.

Sorry, both mirrors on my old '02 MCS were mashed when I rolled it. RealOEM indicates $151.85 for the mirror assembly. Not sure if it includes the cap.

Thanks everyone. There's currently a right side mirror on eBay for sale. Can anyone tell me if I'd be able to use it? Here's the link. It's black but i can probably get a white cap for it...I kinda know what the consensus is going to be: just order the part from the dealer, right?

Call around to your local salvage yards and get one from them. You'll be able to inspect the part before you buy it and ensure it meets your expectations. Ebay is a crapshoot as stated earlier, but sometimes you get lucky.
