Hey everybody,

I have an 06' MCS with around 47,000 miles on it, and unfortunately the warranty is going out in 3 weeks. I'm bringing it in next week to have a squeaky clutch problem that I've been battling for the past few months looked at, and was wondering if there was anything else that I should have them check out while the car's still under warranty to save me some cash.

Anyone have any ideas?

do your windows roll up and down ok?
any squeaks or rattles?
does your sunroof (if you have one) open and close ok without sticking?
leaky motor mounts?

 

Yeah, the windows seem fine. Only squeak is with the clutch, which they're checking up on. Besides that it seems pretty good. I'll go check out the mounts right now. But that's basically what I'm asking, are there any things that the average driver wouldn't know about to get checked up? (like the mounts)

 

Talk to Waylen, of Way Motor Works. He is MINI certified and knows just about everything concerning MINIs. He can tell you exactly what to look for [and what to tell the service people to check out].

 

Hm my window (driver) doesnt go up and down properly sometimes. Itll jerk on its way down like theres too much friction between the rubber piece and the window. Is that it or is it something more?

 

Clutch (chewbacca type noise when cool)
Thermostat (leaking)
Oil pan (oil leak)
motor mount (passenger side top, leaks)
power steering cooling fan (make sure it works)
engine cooling fan (low speed sometimes fails due to failed resistor)

 

I have a slight leak at the Oil Pan, PS cooling fan is locked --- according to local tech. Are these covered under warranty.

My Warranty end in 2 months, and I have 2006 CVT Transmission, what should I look for?

 

The key is to complain about more than you actually know about. The tech can't fix anything wrong they see unless you complain about it. That's the rule from MINI.
Check the thermostat housing for leaks
Rt motor mount for leaking fluid.
P/S lines leaking?
Control arm bushing clunking.
Generic oil leak complaint, makes look.
