Ran OVER a deer...what should i do?

I was driving back to school in the dark and just as I was switching lanes after passing a car, I see a large dead deer in the middle of the road right in front of my car... there was no way I could have swerved because I was going 75 and ended up running the thing over. It was a big impact, so I pulled off asap. The car looked fine, but underneath there was a foot long rubber piece that had ripped off and was dragging, and a lot of deer hair. It seemed to drive fine afterwards, but I'm just a little worried. I'm taking it tomorrow to be put up on a lift to check things out....anything else I should be doing? (besides of course cleaning underneath my car)

Get some rye bread and make a venison sandwich with the leftovers?

But seriously, I would just clean it up really well and inspect closely, looking for anything bent or leaking. How bad is the deer carnage on your car?

Check your undercarriage for guts. I ran over a dead possum and it hooked on my downpipe flange bolt and hitched a ride all the way home with me.

That ribber piece is pretty much pointless so don't get your panties in a knot over that. I was going to take mine off just to clean it up a little down under.

I won't know until I put it on a lift, but it didn't look bad at all although it was dark. It looked like there was just a lot of hair underneath.

Maybe an alignment might be needed?

Eww, twice my boyfriend had hit a coyote and broke the chin spoiler off of his car. Fur and blood everywhere, he couldn't get rid of the cooking meat smell no matter how detailed his cleaning was.

Hopefully you won't have to suffer through that. It was so, so gross.

Wow, it must have been a small deer... some of the ones dead around here (NY) are monsterous... it would take out the whole front end of the MINI if I hit one.
Good luck the repairs.

I hit either A Coyoti or Racoon about 2 weeks ago, also in the middle of the night doing about 70 or so, but a nice crack in the lower bumper, and broke the fog light bracket, took me a few hours to get all the hair and guts out of the car, considering the speed and the size of the thing, the Mini held up well.

Good luck

Just looked at it on a lift and there is no damage except a small rubber flap on the back left. Now my problem is getting all the hair and stuff off. I tried using a pressure washer at a car wash but it didnt work....any ideas?

I should have never posted in this thread. On my way home a tonight I didn't see Bambi laying dead halfway across my lane on a dark road and ran over the mid section which was pretty much hamburger already(or else it would have been alot worse) but the front legs ripped my passenger fender trim right off I also have guts all over the lower axle carrier which stink to high heaven. I need a few beers before I attempt to clean it all off.

My car is so low I got a dead, squished (by someone else) squirrel caught underneath it the other day. It was kinda gross lol.
