Brake pads
Brake pads
So what brake pads are you using? Looking to upgrade mine. I have a 07 MCS with the JCW brakes. Looking to do some auto crossing and track time this summer, would like a good pair for the front that resists brake fade.
Thanks
Thanks
I'm running Carbotech 1521 Bobcats, and have about 10K miles on them. I like them; almost no brake dust, and better modulation than factory pads. They supposedly outlast the factory pads and are easier on rotors.
However, the Bobcats are a street pad and should not be used for track. Carbotech makes other pads that are better suited for track.

I would not track with the JCW drilled rotors because they seem to crack. Some friends had problems with them on the track.
For pads, typical trackies have a track set and a regular set for the street.
I used to have Ferodos but took them off cuz they dusted so bad. I replaced them with Hawk HPS pads all the way around and they have worn really well with little dusting...so well that I don't even have to change out while at the track.
My Cooper is a 2007, not sure how old or new the brakes are. They came with it. I bought the car used with 12000 miles on it. The rotors are the cross drilled ones though.
If I bought a separate "track" set how easy is it to swap them out?
What I have been looking at are the EBC "Yellow Stuff".

I take my time so each side takes about 20-25 minutes.
I would recommend Carbotech XP10s (front) for the track.
Got mintex red box going on the car here soon. I will post another reply once they are installed!

Generally, if you use the pads as intended, they should be pretty decent.
