any one running Kumho ecsta ASX
i just got a set put on today, got them for free from carmax. got them for free because they sold me the car with one tire that was half bald on the inside. they said they had to buy me two new tires (one for each side so that its even). wanting to be rid of the run flats anyways i did some reaserch and found the run flats to be 322$ bucks a piece. so i told the service manager he could by 4 non runflats and still save money. so he did but i was not able to pick the tire.
every thing was good with an extremely noticeable difference in ride comfort for the better!
but 30 minutes ago on the way to class, going about 75mph i changed lanes and noticed a rather excessive amount of body roll that was not there with the runflats. i know why this is, but i didn't think it would be so dramatic.
anyone else notice this when they switched to non run flats. also my tire size is 205/45/17.

The Kumho ASX is a decent all-season for not much money. I ran these for a while in 215/35-18 and they were well worth the price. It'll survive a winter without getting stuck, and it'll put up with some summertime abuse, but it's honestly nothing to rave to your friends about. They have some sporting-ish intentions, but aren't a max performance all-season.
That said, you are not going to be experiencing any real change in body-roll just from changing tires of the same size. You might observe some sidewall deflection going from run-flats to standard, but that would mainly be felt on sharp bumps and not [relatively] slow maneuvers like lane changes. Tire spring rates are much higher than the rest of the suspension, so you'd pretty much have to have a flat tire to significantly change the handling balance.
Cheers,
Ryan

My first set was a 205-50-16 set and I have about worn them out...maybe one more HPDE left. Besides that, they were Dragonslayers and daily drive tires. As Ryan said, good tires but not real max performance tires. They are ok in light snow and rain, as long as extremes don't occur in either.
I just got a set of 215-50-16s installed this month...dunno about the wider tire, and will see how they perform at Mid Ohio this weekend, as I feel it may be a tad early for my summers even though it's supposed to be warm this weekend.
I'll probably switch to my summers in May.

I have run these tires for two Wisconsin winters and countless club runs. I don't know that you could do much better for the money. You can certainly spend more and do better...but I'm usually able to get a set of these in 205/50/16 for under $100/tire installed locally and they last a good 40k+ miles. If I found a better tire for the price I would go for it, but so far I have not.
I'm running those in 235/40R-17 and I really like 'em. It's my third set, started off with 215/50R-16's on the OEM wheels. Replaced them with 225/50R-17's on Rota RB wheels which were stolen and now, I'm running Rota Torque wheels with the 235's. They did great in the D.C. blizzards this year and the first autocross day went just fine with 'em. Hard to imagine doing any better for the price.

My smaller sized Kumho ASX tires 205-50-16s on OEM v-spokes replaced my runflats, and, WOW...what a difference! For a fairly cheap all season tire, they do pretty well at the track during early Spring and late Fall [BMW CCA 2-day HPDEs] and they are just a really dependable tire that you can get at least 30k from. As stated earlier, I've used them for daily use, Dragonslaying, twisties and the track. In May, and for warm weather use, however, I go to a summertime tire that's a bit stickier and they stay on til Sept.
That said, I am REALLY anxious to see how the new 215-50-16s [on the same wheels] perform at Mid Ohio this weekend, as it's supposed to be in the mid-70s.
I keep the pressures at 35 psi when at the track and experience little or no roll.

Well, there will be some noticeable difference between the runflats and non-runflats in general...the sidewalls are not as stiff and you can tell that. I don't know that it transferred into true body roll though. Mostly I just noticed that bumps weren't as jarring.
