just got off the phone with Fontana Village for a update. The slide is right before the Foothills Parkway, which is after the area most folks would turn around after riding the Dragon and secondly it's expected to be cleared up by March 20th

 

This is why you don't cross the center line, and why drivers just aren't paying attention. This guy runs right into the rockslide.

Man *****, I thought they were his self inflating Air Bags,, That Lincoln LS is Toast, but as someone else noted, at least the dog was ok!!

"Well Gang it is official the TN Governor has closed the Dragon and is unwilling to accept the help of NC for medical and law enforcement. We will probably be forced to close the resort and not sure we will reopen this year. Lots of rumors flying around as to when they will get the mess cleaned up. I have heard 14 week to Aug. I will let you know more when I do."

"In the mean time everyone please email, call and write the TN Governor and respectable ask for him to take the help offered by NC so we can continue to enjoy the Dragon."

Tail of the Dragon It's official - Dragon is blocked off at the state line. TDOT now saying slide will be cleared on March 26. We'll keep you posted.

Tail of the Dragon We have an unconfirmed report that TDOT will barricade the Dragon at the state line today (Friday), preventing access to the Dragon from the NC side. TDOT estimates land slide to be clear and open to traffic Saturday @ 4pm. We will keep you up to date. Good excuse to explore Moonshiner 28.

I am sure they will get it cleaned up I read the dame post they sound optimistic it will be cleared by the 26th of March. Any way they have 38 days to get it taken care of so we shall see...

No worries, the 2010 MOTD is not going to be cancelled. There are plenty of other great roads to ride. We'll have packed parking lot with vendors and plenty of things to do
