Stereo hiccup

Wondering if this has happened to anyone else....

First, I have an '08 MCS with HiFi and Bluetooth/USB/ipod.

After parking the car for a short time and coming back out from a store to head home, I started the car. The stereo is absolutely dead.....no display, now sound, no phone. The iPod appeared to be charging.

Upon arriving home, I fiddled around with it. After unplugging the iPod and plugging it back in, the system woke up, however, it would not recognize that an iPod was attached, nor would it recognize the fact that I have a hands-free phone.

Next I unplugged the fuse for the stereo system and plugged it back in....when it came back on, everything was fine.

Guess I'll just see if it happens again. At first I thought it had something to do with my iPod as it has frozen up before (just the iPod), but I doubt that is the problem Not sure why my iPod would make the whole system go whacky.

Not that I have had a problem but these are not just radios they are full blown computers and at times they act like them as well, this unfortunately means lockups.

Is it right for this to happen, NO, but it does and it probably was not the iPod that caused it.

If this happens again I would immediately take the car to the dealer (if you can) and have them see the problem first hand. If they don't see it first hand then they probably will not be able to recreate the problem. They should replace the head unit under warranty (if you still have warranty left)
