Hood (Bonnett) tilt

Has anyone attempted a hood or Bonnet tilt like this? I was looking to tilt the hood only an inch when its hot because I live in AZ and the temp under the hood can get HOT when in stop and go traffic. Yet I also want to keep the stock opening method (easier to change the oil and install mods)

Is it possible?

Hmmm.. Looking at a good bit of money for something like that. What you need is a bigger bonnet scoop ( or remove the plastic mesh inside stock scoop altogether better airflow like on my 03 ) the bigger scoop is a couple hundred bucks and pokes up like the one on the Subaru WRX kinda high if you ask me..not really worth the money to get it to open both ways , if someone can actually do it..

Maybe a 1" spacer at the arm joints would do the trick? I dunno...I am not looking to do what they did in the pic above, just raise it 1".....there has to be a way without breaking the bank.....

dunno........Also not sure how it will close correctly with the changed geometry of the bonnet ,there is a sensor that might trip on the dash...

Maybe if I find the sensor and adjust that as well...it can be done, its just making sure its done the right way and is completely reversible. It would be a beneficial mod for our cars since the engine bay gets REALLY hot (especially in AZ where the outside temp can easily reach 110 in the summer) This would allow heat to flow freely away from the engine bay and allow cool air in...

Maybe cut some vents into the bonnet just aft of the SC.

Lots of JDM Honda guys do this tilt in my area, it is realy simple. All that is required(on a Honda) is taking the hood free from the hinges and installing either a metal or rubber spacer where they bolt togeather(if you use metal you shuld put a faucet washer between the hood and spacer), then replace the bolts with longer ones. All the pices you need are at ACE Hardware and really cheap. However I dont know how good it would look on a MINI, because the MINI's hood extends to what would normally be a fender on any other car. It might cause a UGLY gap between the tiny thing MINI calls a fender and the back of the hood(this gap could be 3/4" at the top of the fender. Not to mention the back of the hood on the MINI is folded about 1/2" strait down, with a 1" rise and this lip you might only get 1/4" of space for the air to exit! NOT worth the hastle in my oppinion.
M7 makes an exit scoop for the DFIC that even when used with a stock I/C will let quite a bit of air out and still look good. Just be sure to keep an air diverter sealed to your I/C or you will loose all use of your I/C.

Well put there ****. Started reading this and that came straight to mind as well. Definitely looking to do this eventually as I too live in the Grand Canyon state.
