215/55/16

To all my Mini guru friends here. I am getting to the point of needing new sneakers. I have decided to go non runflat, and was wondering if the 215/55/16 tires would be a good choice. There was a thread about 17 in wheels and I didn't want to hijack that thread.
Two questions, first and foremost, will it work? The speedo should be almost dead on.
Second, will it have a bad effect on braking?

TIA

I went with 205/55/16 only because I was a little worried about 215s fitting on the rims.

I'm running 215/50-16s on 16x7s with zero issues at all.

215 55 16 may be a bit tall, check the specs, and you may want to look at 215 50 16. Also Discount Tire direct has a size chart were you put in the original size and then the size you plan to run and it shows you the difference

Which 215/50/16 tire are you guys running? There's limited options at that size and I'm curious how they stack up.

My first choice was 215-50-16 but they were tough to come by at the local tire shops. 205-55-16 is readily available here so that's what I went with. Not much difference in actual size.

I use 205 55 16 for my Snows, and I am very happy with them, good ride quality, a bit soft but for the winter they are great.
Summer tires are 215 45 17, and my Track DE/ Autocross tires this season will be either 205 50 16 or 225 50 16, I am not sure what will fit on the Rota rims yet have a few more weeks before the real season starts.

In 215/50/16, I'm debating between the Kumho ASX and the General Exclaim UHP. Falken offers the 912 A/S also. Leaning towards the General.
