How to measure Boost on SC

Hey Guys:

At 93K miles I am thinking of doing a 17% pulley with 380 injectors and RMW tune. I think that it would be good to see how much boost that I have on my original SC before I do any more MODS. From the research I have done at 17% pulley will not add any more wear to the SC.

Is there a way to do this without adding a gauge?

Thanks

You will noticed very little, if any, additional power if you already have a 15%.

To get an accurate boost measurement you will need to install some kind of sensor, thus the need for a gauge.

either use the already existing sensors, using the obd port ( a scangauge can do that )
or you can get a boost gauge ( and connect it via a T-piece to a boost line )

Going from a 15 to a 17 alone will produce 5-7 more peak wheel horsepower, but you will also see a substantial increase in area under the torque curve, meaning that you will feel an increase in acceleration lower in the RPM band.

scangauge makes it easy to read boost - highly recommended!

In our local club in the NE, the 17% is now the default pulley size....for city/surburban driving, it is perfect. We have had MANY people switch from the 15 to the 17.....and the change is pretty nice!!

Once again thanks alot everyone. The scangauge seems to be the way to go. I think it is a good idea to see the overall health of my mini before anymore mods. Cravenspeed makes a great mounts as well for the mini.

Minisane ?? .. Somehow THAT just doesn't seem right; but good lord lookit me !! Heh heh ~~anyhow~~ the " rule of thumb" (or big toe) is you gain 10% over stock~ relative to Pulley"underdrive" or "overdrive"~ whatever ya wanna call it. So if your makin 10lbs stock & add a 15% pulley you now have added 1.50 lbs of boost and so on. Gosh I sure hope that lil simple xplanation didn't wake the "wolves" !! The truth cannot only sometime hurt but with the "right " exhaust~~~~~~~~~~~~LOUD TOO !! By the way~~Watchout for that MINI-MADNESS fella !!He (GEO) IS as GOOD as it gets & THAT IS ~~GREAT !! OBEY
