About to buy a 07 Cooper S, few ?s

Hey guys,

This is an awesome forum. Been browsing it nonstop since I decided to purchase a MINI. The loan got approved today so I am pretty excited.

I ended up getting the auto tranny, I know, I know, a lot of you are prob going to rip me. I test drove both, and am used to driving a stick, but I was amazed completely how quick the paddles where and how you still have a ton of control of which gear you are in. I actually found downshifting to be quicker.

The car I got has the cold weather, sports, convenience, and premium package. I also got the schduled maintenance and MINI next both till 2013 or 100k miles. Paid all and all $24,900.

I am just curious what are some common mods and changes that people like to do to their MINI, anything from engine mods to interior mods. Also any feedback on this model or anything listed would be nice.

Your driving style should determine the upgrades. For me I absolutely had to get the JCW Aero Kit and the JCW suspension. The suspension will give you a lot more control of the car and will also lower it for just 1/2 inch. Well then I had to improve the intake and upgraded to the full JCW factory exhaust. Then the tuning completed my performance package (at least for now). It is a different car with at least extra 25 whp and 25 wtq .

How much did this run you? I wanted a JCW initially but there is legit 2 in all of Mass for sale currently and neither offered any sort of warranty nor were they from MINI dealers.

I stay away from retail as much as I can. I got new take off full JCW factory exhaust for $500, JCW Aero Kit for $1000 installed (got lucky on e-bay), K&N intake-$200, JCW suspension-$1,400 installed (Morristown Mini on-line deal), tuning-$500. So I had just a bone stock commuter car for 2 years and now it feels like I got a brand new performance car. In a long run I actually think that I saved $$ since I didn't trade it/sold it and got something more expensive.

Nice man, since you posted original I picked up a new manifold, downpipe, some new sparks, and a CAI.

I'm trying to figure out how to get 2 subs in there so I can do some of my custom fiberglassing
