R56 Mystery Noise
Mystery Noise
OK, mystery buffs, here's the senerio. Whenever I go around a corner, I get a noise that sounds like it's coming from under the back seat. Sounds like a coin or some loose object sliding from one side to the other. I popped up the backseat today and there's absolutely nothing loose under there. Also checked under the driver and passenger seats. Also checked under the boot where the jack is stored (hey! I've got a jack!) and everything is secure there. Anybody else have this noise? Or any ideas?
I keep getting a thumping noise that sounds like it's in the same area. I'm guessing it's either the spare tire being loose or there's something wrong with the latch for the hatch. I can't think of anything that would sound like a coin sliding back and forth.
You may checked already, your cupholders, armrest cubby (if you have an armrest), glove box, secret compartment, or door map pockets could contain the culprit.
For something more obscure, if you have the sunroofs, run your hand along the top of interior trims (open the shade first) to check for a lost screw or debris.
The only other cavities I could think of is maybe inside the tailgate. Try half opening it and shaking it up and down fast.
The S does not have a spare like our Cooper's do.
