Picking up my new-to-me 06 MCS, what not to forget?
I will be picking up my new-to-me 06 MCS this coming weekend and was wondering what small items or paperwork would be important to get from the previous owner.
-The only thing I saw that was missing from the car was the rear cargo cover, and he said he would find it and include it.
-He will include the original window sticker and dealer-installed accessory list.
Questions...
-Aside from the 2 main keys, did the car come with any valet or additional keys? -The car is a factory JCW car, is there some sort of certificate or authentication paperwork that came with the car that I should ask for?
-Anything else I should ask for that may be important?

I would be more concerned on the condition of the car rather than paper work. As long as I would get the title I would be happy.
As for the keys, there will probably only be 2.
I'm not too sure if there is a certificate for the JCW upgrade but there should be a badge in the under the bonnet somewhere.
You should see if the owner has any maintenance records on hand also.

Congrats on your purchase !
If he is the first owner, at the very least he should have two key/fobs and one thin flat black ABS plastic key for the wallet or purse. You can ask what dealers serviced it, and if he can supply their work orders. That will give you an idea as to what has been replaced so far if anything.
Did he happen to purchase an extended maintenance plan for the car ?
Most are transferrable in private sales for a minimal fee of $25.00. You could also check on where he purchased the tires from. Many offer a road hazzard warranty with purchase. Not sure if that is transferrable or not.
And as always, if you have a mechanic in mind for your ownership, maybe he can give it the once over for some peace of mind before the purchase. It may provide some wiggle room at the bottom line of the sale.
Good luck - Enjoy the MINI.

Yeah, get a mechanic to look it over, however it sounds like it was well taken care of. Congrats on the purchase!!! One thing you can look at on the car yourself are the strut towers for mushrooming. Other than that, see if you can get the JCW certificate like Burley suggested. Good luck!!
I'd get all of the maintenance receipts from the seller. Or copies if he wants to keep the originals for some reason.
BTW, if he doesn't have all of the receipts, I'd have very low confidence in the seller and would pass on the car. But that's just me.

I guess I should have given a little more info...
I have already taken a look at the car and test drove it. We decided on a price on now it's time to pick up the car. The car has a little over 10k miles on it, so there really isn't much in terms of maintenance records, just a couple of oil changes. The car is still under factory warranty for about 2 more months, so I was hoping I can extend it through MINI (just warranty, not maintenance).
-I wasn't aware there was a plastic valet key, do all MINIs come with it? I guess I should ask for it...
-The window sticker shows the JCW package so I know it is legit. However I have seen pics online of what looks like a certificate of authenticity from JCW with a signature at the bottom. I don't know if this came with all JCW's or just the tuning kits added after.
-The car has the JCW strut bar, so I suppose that would help prevent mushrooming, but I will double check.
Anything else I should double check or ask for?

If your thinking of getting an extended warranty, check with your credit unions/banks or just online. Alot of times they have similar warranties that are alot cheaper than getting one from a MINI dealer.
Congrats on the car, also like your bike.
