Why Am I Having Trouble With the Best Coilovers out there?!?
I bought an R53 and am in the process of selling my R50.
I swapped all the suspension parts over almost a week ago. It seemed to be working fine, but the sound and feel when I hit a bump was a little more of a loose clunk sound. I looked at it today and checked for any loose fittings and what not, but everything seemed fine. I then lowered it another 1/2 inch in front for kicks and took it for a quick test drive to see if what I did made any difference. Well not only was the loose, clunky feel still there, it was worse. So anyone with Cross coilovers or any advise, please chime in. I am afraid to drive it right now, like something is just going to snap and I'll be dead in the water. The dampening adjustments on top of the strut are weird and I tried to tighten it, but that might be the cause of the whole problem. Please help anyone!
...
Well I just went out and had another go at it. I unbolted the top, made sure the spring was seated properly, all the fasteners are tight.
The thing I don't understand about these are what all the adjustments are.

On the top of the strut there is the 21mm bolt, and that screw made for a flat head to tighten it. And then on the very bottom the shock there is a **** up in the bottom, which I believe, although its hard to get at, is the dampening adjustment. Because it clicks when you turn it. So I guess if I understood what all the stuff on the top is and its function... I dont know.
Also, with the height adjustment collar loose and the bottom collar loose, why can twist the whole threaded body?
I feel like an idiot right now who has a big problem.
Thanks,
Please help, anyone!

Wow you sound like you just hopped into the coilover game with no pregame. First of all the **** at the very bottom of the front is the damper adjustment. Second the height adjustment is the sleeve and threaded body so to lower you spin the threaded body down into the sleeve and then to raise its the opposite. The clunking in the rear is something loose so double and triple check everything.
far from the best coilovers out there in my opinion....
Anyway, helps to get your suspension from a suspension vendor who can walk you through set-up and how everything works!
For the clunk sound, double check the top mounts and the 3 locator nuts. They don't need to be super tight, but can't be loose. Also check swaybar endlinks to see if they're loose.

Yeah, I installed these on my old car and had to problems. Now I swap them to my new car and start having this problem.
The clunk is definitely coming from the front end. But that didn't stop me from checking everything in the rear. The front endlinks are tight as well the three top bolts. The pinch bolt is up to spec as well.

Somehow the spring perches where not tight enough on the spring. It felt snug, but it wasn't tight enough.

The only reason I said best is because thats what everyone told me before I bought them. They are amazing though. I love them and have had no problems with them that I haven't caused.
