Check engine light

Hi Everyone,
We have a 2009 mini S
1st time post.
Hope you can help.
Check engine light keeps coming on. then off?
Sometimes runs so rough it won't go over 35MPH?
Mini dealer say's everything is fine.
Doing 35 in rush hour traffic is not fine!
Has just over 5k miles.

I'm surprised that the dealer can't find anything - like stored codes.

I'd take the car to an auto parts store and have them read any codes in the system. Then you can take those codes to the dealer, or back here for someone to look up.

Wow, time to find another dealer if possible. They should not be telling you it's fine if the light keeps coming on and the car is not driving properly.

Does it happen first thing in the morning, when it's cold out? I've had that problem, both times I had to have the High Pressure Fuel Pump replaced.

It started like that.
Then It ran rough & wouldn't accelerate, suddenly on freeway rush hour downtown burbank! and had to manually shift to get out of drive.

Definitely find another dealer! The car's computer should store an error code about whatever the problem is, so a competent dealer should be able to read the error code and take the necessary action to fix the problem. Good luck.
